What happened to TRG??

So we all know the story in the offseason: TRG makes a huge deal about becoming the official US partner of Aston Martin Racing, they're going to run GTE's in the ALMS, GT3-based cars in Grand-Am, GT4-based cars in the Contintental Challenge (even becoming the official builder for Continental-bound cars). They even promised a one-make series for the GT4 cars.

Since then: Nothing. One article back in Frebruary saying that the ALMS program was delayed until mid-season, but the other programs were on-track. Again, since then: Nothing. I know this sort of thing happens all the time in racing, big promises then POOF!, but TRG always seemed like one of the best funded, best put-together organizations around, so whats the deal? Anyone know anything about whats going on? It'd be great to see Aston Martins mixing it up left and right in all the sports car series.

The track, owned by Skip Barber, will have several upgrades done. This is good news, because the enhancements will likely help it stay on the USCR schedule for years to come.

Porsche LMP1 2014

Very happy for seeing Porsche in LMP1. Their 2014 rules will kick every other series butt. I think WEC has a lot of potential to be huge. Hope they get good view worldwide to make more manufacturers interested cuz the regs to make it happen they already have. IMO.

Interesting that the day after WTR releases a picture of their second DP which will be making it's debut later this season. Ricky Taylor releases this picture from SOD. Have to wonder if it means they will be running a second car also later this season or if they are just getting a back up ready for a stretch of racing which has very few off weeks.

Wolf to DP in 2014

The Italian chassis maker Wolf has announced plans to enter the DP class of USCR in 2014. With a chassis design in the works waiting for approval from USCR. This could add a 4th chassis to the mix for 2014 as Wolf joins, Coyote, Riley and Dallara in the DP class.

Add this to earlier rumors of new engine manufacturers Audi and Aston Martin and the DP class looks even stronger for 2014. With the possibility of the full time car count breaking the 20 car level next season. 18 different DP cars have ran so far this year with 19 and 20 scheduled to join later this season with the addition of second cars for WTR and 8 Star racing.

WTCC qualifying debacle. Mass-penalites and fines.

This weekend's qualifyig at the Salzburgring had quite an interesting end to the qualifying session. Salzburgring is a really cool track for touring cars but like, for example, Monza it it's extremely important to get a good slipstream in order to set a fast laptime. This time everyone wanted to get the tow of Tom Chilton, but Chilton didn't co-operate and just slowed his car right down with the cars behind him slowing down too as no one wanted to be the the one splitting the air for the rest of the pack. In the end it turned out that they were all driving so slow that they ran out of time and the chequered flag dropped before they could start their flying lap.

In the end the official penalized and fined 12 of the drivers on the grid with Gabriele Tarquini being penalized the hardest with a 24 grid drop penalty and a €6000 fine.
