Should Indycar have dirt cars races?

Yes, just like the seperate cars thread on rod/oval, but a little different.

What about Indycar getting more back to roots. What about the addition of 4-5 dirt ovals. Yes more expensive as it would reguire the addition of a dirt car, but perhaps Indy teams could work out deals with current dirt car owners.

We certainly are lacking and it might bring some USAC guys into the Indycar limelight. Just a thought. I use to love seeing AJ and Mario and Al and Mel Kenyon and well a lot of drivers at the Hossier Hundred.

when closely involved with champ car a few years back I suggested this, for some it was like talking greek to a tarheel,, some got it,, cost? one would be less than front wing, sebass would rule,, hes very good at it.. it would show a versatility not seen since 1970 when every type race was on the schedule,,

What would it accomplish? From a cost effect standpoint how does it make sense? Will it draw in dirt track teams? Most likely not, they have plenty of their own championships to contend for and once you got back to the paved tracks wouldnt stand a chance. Is thre a real demand for this outside of a a few niche fans? I dont seea demand for dirt track racing on TV by the masses, so you add cost in the form of specealized equipment that you'll then tear up adding more cost to gain virtually nothing except to make a few internet forum members happy?

The costs to the teams have already been covered. The series would also incur equipment / personnel costs to inspect different cars and different engines.

Just develop a partnership between IndyCar and USAC to make it easier for dirt track drivers to transition to IndyCar either directly, or through the ladder series.

Do not need to reinvent the wheel. (pun intended)

If Indycar drivers are the best in the world then a USAC driver shouldn't even have a chance at bumping an Indycar driver out of the field, right? I mean all that road course experience the Euro drivers have should make them more than adequate to kick butt in dirt cars, right?

This idea might have some validity if USAC was anything more than a regional die-hard gearhead sport. It used to be. It hasn't been for almost 40 years now.

I would say no. Not because it wouldn't be interesting but, beacuse it would dilute even further what indycar has become.

Absolutely.

Yes, it would be easy.

Just have a couple (DuQuoin and Hoosier Hundred) count towards the championship, if some team didn't want to run them then they took the chance of falling behind the ones that did. The choice of each team.

How hard would it be to race the DW12 on dirt? Would it be possible with dirt track areo kit?

It would be a great publicity stunt for a team to take a DW12 out onto a dirt track and throw it on YouTube. Even Springfield, DuQuoin or Syracuse, just to get some eyeballs and maybe drum up some interest among the midwest dirt hardcores.
