    Profanity with Asterisks?

    Is that permitted now?

Been seeing it more frequently now.

    Just curious.

Not really - probably just a function of more new people, etc.

I mean, really - it's the words and the usage that's offensive, not the way the letters look on the page

Feel free to use the Report Post button - that's the best way to handle it.

It's not what you say - it's how you say it.

**** happens and the poster has no say. The software censor does that.

I've been on many message boards with auto censoring and sometimes I had been amused by some words I typed that got asterisked. They weren't all curse words.

After all, F**** is how you spell his name with astericks.

Yeah, I've run afoul of a couple of them on here. ******* is one of my favorites - how can anyone be offended by that?

Even more amusing are the folks who are complaining that they're offended by words that are asterisked out - you have to be pretty sensitive to be offended by a word that you can only recognize by counting. I think some people enjoy being offended.

Offending someone in 2012 is almost as severe a crime as murdering them.

Not sure when this started happening but its gotten out of control

I discovered recently reddneck would get the asterisk treatment if you spelled it correctly.

Guess the software was afraid I was about to offend myself

Yeah, that was the word I was referring to in my post - and, naturally, it got astrisked out.

I commented about it to a moderator some time ago - apparently it had something to do with Dolan being tired of it - or the moderators being tired of him complaining.

Funny, I thought in some circles (including some TF circles) "*******" was seen as a compliment.

I think it happened here or it may have been another forum. In an off-topic, I was discussing some holly plants that are sold either tree-form or f,t,g, which stands for "full-to-ground", and is abbreviated "***". I am writing this now to see what happens.

    Yep, it is censored here!

Use to be the censors weren''t allowing us to say Crapwagon... then the merger took place and we gave them control of the Indy Car forum.

What? We gave the &*$#%@^& censors control of the IndyCar Board?

Next you will tell me we can't say $&*@ TG, (and I also was talking about the ground, )

And I thought a crapwagon was what clean out a porta potty
After years of fighting and a split, guess what, we are all IndyCar

October will always be a sad racing month for me. RIP Greg and Dan. You both were great and we miss you.
