That's so cool. I've taken so many Film history and theory courses, but it would have been awesome to have a Motorsports history class like this in more Universities.

Thanks for posting the info. I took this course about 10 years ago. I've thought about taking it again the last few years but, seem to find the info too late to get a seat. I just registered to take it again.

My wife and I just spent 5 hours on Friday one on one with Donald at the IMS Museum talking about a myriad of topics related to the Speedway, the 500 and a host of other racing related topics...took his class in 2011 and loved EVERY minute of it. He's a fantastic storyteller and his side stories are oftentimes more interesting than the original topic you might ask him about...and those original topic stories are amazing as well. Really a VERY nice guy and a resource like no other.

This course isn't ever recorded or available online right? I looked and it didn't seem like it. If anybody is going or has connections maybe you could put that in as a suggestion. I'm sure there are many people who don't live in the area who would love this.

I have few vices...at least ones that cost anything..

so a little gas money is small price to pay...plus I teach a Tech class which is heavy on the history and significance of Automobiles...it's a perfect fit.

    350 miles??!?

Guess I'll keep my whining to myself about the traffic getting across downtown after work...

I've taken this a few times in the past, but it does seem like each time I think about it, its just after registration has closed.

It's never the same class twice...he has so much info to share and questions from class participants will take the class in a different direction every week...this'd be a great way for some of you guys to get your Indy Car "fix".

I wonder if Donald wakes up every morning and still wonders "How in the he!! did I end up here?"

his own story is one of the most amazing in IMS history and I love hearing him tell parts of it on the radio

it really captures how generous and welcoming the racing community can be

Is it really a course or "just" him talking history?

He's talking history, fielding questions and telling stories. Shows some videos so the kids can see changes throughout time.

    no tests, quizzes or homework.

$60 bucks?! That's a steal. I would take it if I lived closer to Indy.
