Anybody else watching the critically acclaimed "This Is Us" on NBC?

It seems a little schmaltzy on the surface, but the acting and writing are outstanding. I've had goosebumps and WTF moments in both of the first two eps.

I haven't yet, but I saw it got picked up for a full season, so I may go back and catch up. Only new show I'm watching so far is Designated Survivor.

I'm trying to like it, but it seems a little uneven.

It just feels like the story should be bigger. It's mostly just a bunch of stuff happening, with a pretty superficial telling of events.

I think it works a lot better if you watch the show like a novel where the pilot was the prologue and the second episode was the first chapter. They need to eliminate the teenage son from the show altogether though. Whenever he's on screen any momentum the show has comes to a screeching halt.

I am struggling to answer this. I cannot figure out how to do this without watching the series, thereby making it ineligible.

I liked the concept, but I found the pilot quite disappointing.

Every notion of what made a person "good" in life is related to hippie progressivism. And then, contrary to that notion, "heaven" is all about having really big houses and possessions and tasty treats, which seem contrary to the materialism and self-absorption that tends to drive people away from what really matters.

Now, putting aside the philosophy of the show, the chuckles were too few and far between.

According to The Globe and Mail, 'Atlanta' is the best TV series you're not watching:

The second season premiere for "Ash vs. Evil Dead" was great last night.

I've watched it since the beginning. It's really funny in a strange sort of way. Has some clever moments that make you think. The 4th episode was the best so far. I guess it's going for the "dramedy" angle and it is sometimes just plain surreal.

Orphan Black. S1 was good and now I'm 3 episodes into S2 and I've completely lost interest.

We are watching it. We like it so far. It's the only new network show we have latched onto so far. We have designated survivor on our DVR but haven't started yet. We may let that one play out and see how it goes.

I have heard "Atlanta" is really good, but the subject doesn't interest me.

I'm with you. Too many characters, too many plot lines, too many outrageous devices.

I have one more episode of 'Longmire' to go in this season. Hope there's another season next year but there may not be.

Donald Glover is really, really good in this and writes a lot of it and directed a couple of episodes, hell of a jump from being a bit actor on 'Community.' 'Atlanta' is odd and unpredictable.

He was great on Community, too.

Watched the finale of 'Longmire' last night and all I will say is there had better be one more season.

'Bloodline' has been cancelled, one more season next spring or early summer and that's it.

Evidently, this new series is about to get the ax. The ratings dropped dramatically for the 2nd episode.

    Maybe needs more pea soup.

I have 5 eps on the DVR, tempted to just watch the finale and call it good.

    Funny you mention that...

“The Exorcist” didn’t exactly burst out of the gate with its premiere, but it put up a respectable-for-Friday 1.0 rating.

Then it fell 40 percent in week 2. That is a proverbial pea-soup vomit of a second-week drop right there.

The show is in a low-risk timeslot, so if it keep from crab-walking any lower, the network will probably tolerate it for the remainder of the fall. But a 0.6 is what “World’s Funniest” did last season on Fridays, for presumably a fraction of what “The Exorcist” costs to make each week.

    That’s pretty scary stuff.

Honestly, I think the show has good actors but the story line is all over the place.

I'm power watching "The Blacklist" with James Spader on Netflix. Has its ups and downs but overall worth watching.

Is it a filming location/cost issue?

Another show I've found and have enjoyed: Luther with Idris Elba
