Washed up, over-rated Yadier Molina manages to score the only NL run. I didn't watch but it sounds like it was a snoozer.

Maybe they should elect the worst pitchers.

Then you missed his C3PO catcher gear.

    National Games this weekend

    FRI: NYY/BOS (MLBN)
    SAT: NYY/BOS (FS1)
    SAT: TEX/KC (FS1)
    SUN: NYY/BOS Game 1 (TBS)
    SUN: NYY/BOS Game 2 (ESPN)

How dare FS1 interrupt the pattern like that...

After I posted I remembered that they play that game on the Solstice and that pic was after that. Cool pic thought--coming up to AK and seeing the Midnight Sun Game's on my bucket list.

I dunno, but I personally thought it was a thriller. The scores were close, it went to extra-innings, and it felt like a proper game. I can't ask for much more.

Saw on the channel guide that Texas was playing at KC. Turned it on. Instead they are showing the Yanks & BoSox.

    No thanks.

I'll see the Yankees play for the first time in person vs. the Minnesota Twins Tuesday night. They are not the draw they once were to fill a stadium on the road.

16 innings for NYY/BOS. Looks like it might be coming to an end -- but TEX/KC is already over!

NYY/BOS have to play a day/night doubleheader tomorrow after this.

Gonna take my boys to their first Reds game at GABP Sunday. The Reds are getting clocked by the Nats for the second straight night. They're due to explode tomorrow please please please please please.

Good that they learn how to be true fans---as opposed to my former son who was a Yankee bandwagoneer...

The Reds turn a triple play at Yankee Stadium!

Of course, as an indication of how the season is going, the Yankees still scored a run on the play.

Since you posted that, the Dodgers have gone 36-6

We'll see if the loss of Kershaw slows them down.

For the record, they have 4 consecutive division titles and no World Series appearances to show for it, so this is no way predicting future success.

For whatever reason, doesn't seem like he gets a lot of fanfare relative to others, maybe he's dying on the Angels lack of winning ways, but Mike Trout continues to be on the way to being a part of the greatest player ever conversation from a statistical point of view.

Now, age gets us all in the end and nobody can predict longevity,

but at age 25(Turns 26 today), he already has 999 career hits, all time leader Pete Rose had 723.

He's scored 651 runs, all time leader Rickey Henderson had 586.

He's hit 190 home runs, not on a steroid all time leader pace but definitely well over 400.

He has 548 RBIs. All time leader Hank Aaron had 617.

His OPS is .978, good for 10th All-time but includes Bonds, Ma. Ramirez, and McGwire above him.

Some other wunderkinds, Ken Griffey who started at the same age, had 1039 hits, 189 home runs, 585 RBIs.

Mantle who started at the same age had 1080 hits, 763 runs, and 207 home runs.

Mays did not play that much before 26 with the Military break.

All the above(non-PED) appear in the greatest players conversation.

At least he gets to play in a major market. Look who's #1 in OBP among active players, and the gap he has built to #2:

Rod Carew, Tony Gwynn, etc. There's a pretty decent list of players that played in less than stellar markets, never got into post season play but are still HoF worthy despite that.

Agree, Votto has blossomed into a top tier player no doubt. But, that's the thing about it when you look at Votto as an example, Trout is just now entering his prime playing age.

Maybe MLB demand the Angels trade him if they don't get better for exposure

I'm not saying it's by a mile, but he'd still probably get every first place vote for best player in the game right now. With the injury, no way he gets MVP this season, but it'll be interesting how high he finishes. You don't think of him with Altuve and Judge and the Angels meandering, between avg, obp, slg, and ops+, Altuve's avg is the only thing among the two that trumps him.

Im not worried about a HOF snub, he's well on his way to first ballot highest percentage ever talk, just how baseball is missing showcasing its star/generational player the way the NBA shoves them down your throat.

Carew played several playoff series with the Twins and Angels but never played in a World Series. Gwynn was on two NL Pennant winners with the Padres and played in two World Series. But yes, there are many players in the HoF who never got to play in October.

If not for a very good catch by the left fielder in his last at bat, Trout would have had many "under 26" accomplishments.

This is an awful idea, first time Yankees are not in pin stripes in 102 years:

I'm not sure what is worse. The lack of pin stripes or the stupid names.

It's a one-weekend (Aug. 25-27) tribute to Little League baseball ahead of the LLWS. All the teams are wearing LL-inspired jerseys, and the players will be allowed to write on a uniform patch the name of somebody who inspired or taught them to play baseball. The patch will include an image of player growing into the MLB logo.

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/maurybr.../#21c49b2554ae

    Also:

Game-worn Players Weekend jerseys will be auctioned off online, with 100% of the net proceeds donated to the MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation,
There's a method to the madness, but you have to hear it first.

It's stupid, just a cheap marketing ploy to sell more jerseys. Thank Nike's Phil Knight and the Oregon football team, they wear different uniforms every week.

If there weren't a significant charity component, along with a promotion of youth baseball, I'd agree.

It doesn't bother me that they are also trying to monetize it. And I'm not sure why it should.
