So maybe now Veach to Andretti for multiple years in the 26?
Geez, he even sounds like Kimball in his interviews. He's got a lot of work ahead of him to be anything more than a backmarker in this series.

Any chance one of the Foyt boys is out and that's where he lands?

The full course is way to rough for IndyCars (they say) so they only run a smaller portion for testing. They run it to simulate a rough street course.

I made a cursory review of this thread. Only one poster (Privateer) has Pigot returning.

If it were me, I would take Pigot FT over Hildebrand (as long there was a solid driver in the #20 to compare notes). Given Spencer's circumstances, he has done an admirable job this season.

If he goes, I would think that Schmidt and Foyt would consider him (if they haven't signed anyone yet). I don't think Chip would consider him just yet, and Coyne is probably looking for a driver who can bring a bit of budget (if not the entire budget).

Do we know Tk is with Coyne? I was thinking he might be with Foyt. I don't think Carlos will be with Foyt next year though I think he is a smart, gifted driver.

That would be fun, but I don't believe the DPi entries can race at Le Mans (unless something dramatic & unprecedented happens with the LMP rules prior to next year's race).

Edit for clarification - I don't believe Acura would be involved as LMP2 has a spec engine.

How about Alonso staying with McLaren next year and being loaned out to Andretti for the season?

Sending Alonso to Penske as payback for Ilmor's help in F1 would be interesting would be very interesting.

Track too rough, and if you've never been there, the track infrastructure is not the best, putting it very mildly. Panoz owned it for years and put nothing into the place.

Don't know Nick.. But if you think about it, it makes sense.. Alonso wants to win Indy & Le Mans.. Penske could give him the chance to win both

There is an ARCA team known as Team Stange that are attempting to put together an Indy 500 effort to accompany their full ARCA program next year.

indycars at Lime Rock is ludicrous.

A couple of months ago I would have said Alonso coming to Indycar full time in 2018 would take a blizzard in the underworld, but honestly, now, it's starting to make more sense. All of the top teams, Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari have passed on Alonso for 2018. Williams and Renault are the only other options that could possibly be considered a step up, and it's not certain that they want him either.

Supposedly Alonso gave McLaren an ultimatum this week that they needed to drop Honda if they wanted to retain him for for 2018, and I'm doubtful that there there is any other engine manufacture that wants to supply McLaren at this point.

Now, even Will Buxton is starting to say that Alonso is seriously looking at Indycar for 2018. There's open seats at Andretti and Ganassi. Fernando could easily piece together the $8 to $10 million to fund his ride and take a salary. Today, taking into account what Buxton said, I would be surprised, and ecstatic, but not shocked if Fernando came to Indycar full time in 2018. Also, I wouldn't be shocked if he ends up finishing his career in Indycar.

    Indy? yes.
Le Mans? Not with current Penske plans. The Acura is a DPi, not legal for WEC/ACO. I suppose Penske could do a reverse conversion to LMP2 (bodywork, Gibson engine), but if Toyota runs Le Mans as expected, an LMP2 effort would be a bit of a long shot to win (or maybe not given Toyota's recent luck at Le Mans).

OTOH, if Alonso would settle for a Le Mans GTE-Pro class win, Ganassi can provide both.

One hears a lot will be cleared up on the LeMans side this weekend. Including the fact that COTA and Mexico City are GONE.

One hears that the ACO is quietly testing the waters looking for parties interested in a new LMP1-D that would look like an enhanced DPI spec. As soon as LeMans 2018.

And that PERHAPS there will be a one-time only GTLM/GTE championship that would start at Daytona and finish at LeMans.
