Greenlight has released the first livery on the 2018 car, and it's Zach Veach: https://flic.kr/p/DDyy8H

I'm not sure burnt sienna and teal really work together, but hey, 2018 car, woo!

    I like it.

For me, any race car that is neither black-and-red, white-and-red, nor white-and-blue is a winner at this point. However, I really, really wish Andretti would get rid of the stupid chrome nose already.

    That is absolutely bland.

I can't wait to see the Menards, ABC Supply and NAPA liveries.

Veach's car??? At least the body kit is pleasing the the eye.

Also, nice to see it appears the wicker bill on the nose wont screw up all the decal application on the diecast. I was worried about that.
    Just wait 'till next year!

pardon me if this has already been posted elsewhere, but is it confirmed that the numbers will be on the tiny rear wings? I was hoping that the numbers would go right in front of the rear tires like some of the designs i have seen here on TrackForum from fans with their own designs.

Having said that i happen to like Veach's livery, i think it looks good.

The comments I've seen from IndyCar folks have been that the support in front of the rear tires is too valuable as sponsor space to be used for numbers. I think it's placing short term financial gain in front of long term brand recognition for their drivers, but I've come to terms with it.

I asked Cavin & Kevin a few weeks ago and referred them to an example of the number on the tire ramp. Cavin confirmed that the number will be on the endplates.

Idiots, total idiots. So like in the example most of the ramps will be empty because there are no sponsors and the fans can’t see the numbers. Only thing that the old IRL did right for the NASCAR crowd.

It would be helpful if Indycar would tell teams that if they don't place a sponsor on the rear wheel ramp, then they have to put the number there (at least in speedway trim). Then maybe fans and series officials would be better positioned to pressure other teams to follow suit.

I don't think they want something that isn't uniform for all cars.

Why did both CART and the IRL switch from engine covers to rear wings for the speedways in the early 00s?

The livery is more important to driver I.D. than the number.

I don't think the number placement matters much. Cars are recognized as much by the paint scheme as anything else, especially at speed. I am probably part of a small minority who make it a point to know all the drivers, their numbers, teams with whom they run, sponsors, liveries, etc.

I am also a part of that minority, i was just thinking more for my Grandfather who doesn't keep up with the series full time anymore, only the '500. Not looking for an argument in this thread, just was curious if they made a decision regarding number placement. Looks like they have, so i look forward to seeing other 2018 liveries on this thread shortly, hopefully!!

    It worked fine for CART.

Not to get off topic, but you can see a few subtle aero differences between these two cars. Ok, back to number debate!

I don't mind the teal, but I feel like it should be the outline color wherever the orange abuts the black. To only have it on the side mirrors, number, and down the side of the car makes it look incomplete. Almost like a test car.

I like the Andretti chrome noses.

And I really like the look of this new car.

I have always liked Chips Paint Schemes for the cars he cares about, the 9 and 10 car... I'm looking forward to the NTT data car, toward the end of 2017 they had some sweet liveries with the 10 car!

I'm a fan of those colors, but that leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully it looks better on track.

That may be true for many people but it is not true for everyone. Numbers on cars is what first drew me to racing as a kid and it remains to me an important part of the identity of the car. I like this car a lot but HATE the tiny car numbers. That's going to gnaw at me for as long as these cars run.
