Extension of the contract with IndyCar to be the exclusive tire supplier of the NTT IndyCar Series? What else could it be that could be described as "significant?"

I thought that happened last year in May. Or was that the engine manufacturers extending? I could have sworn they've extended because Miles was using it as a point of growth when IC was able to get all 3 to extend their contracts.
I'd rather have 10% of the world interested in the ICS than 50% of US that NASCAR currently has

They are going full on CCWS now with a "Firestone Presents the NTT Indycar Series, Powered by Honda and Chevy."

Serious guess: just extending their contract, OR sponsoring the pole position award for the '500 then

I doubt they'd get Ed Carpenter, the most well-known non-roadracer in the field, to announce that.

HA! good point, I didn't think that through then. I will adjust my serious guess to sponsoring the pole position award for the '500 then. Ed has won 3 of those and was the most recent pole winner.

They tested @ Indy back in October. Sounds like the drivers were very impressed with the tires. Would they be announcing a new compound?

    "The Firestone Race for Speed"

New compound that will help push for the track record at Indy.

I just wanted to make wild speculative guess...I have no clue; but I hope its truly "significant"

With Fuzzy's gone, perhaps Firestone will be Ed's primary sponsor

Firestone signed a (quote)multi-year (unquote) extension in January 2017.
Of course 2017-2018 would fit definition of 'multi-year'...

Why at the Dallara shop, though? There must be some sort of tie-in there, maybe?

The coffee is good and they have some 35,000 square feet of meeting/event space at the "factory."

The coffee shop is gone. Too bad too.

Firestone to put real firestone tires on Green light diecast toy cars.

Perfect timing for this: Firestone to partner with Ford as an engine supplier and the Detroit Lions to field a car called the “Martha Firestone Ford Special” to commemorate 52 years of the Lions never reaching the Super Bowl. Except they will refer to the Super Bowl as “the big game” due to concerns over copyright during the event.

Does Firestone have any non-tire products (service centers, industrial belts, composite materials)? Perhaps they will be sponsoring Ed and highlighting something like that?

edit: I went an Googled my own question, the answer is yes - they have TONS of non-tire businesses. It is highly likely that the textiles that are used to make composites for Dallara come from Firestone. It is also possible that the roofing on most of the race shops is made by Firestone and they do have a bunch of Service Centers.....

My guess is that Firestone Complete Care will be sponsoring an ECR car, Mario will be in commercials, bringing in the two seater for service between runs......

Though there will be one commercial about how Harvey Firestone and Henry Ford liked to camp together, and one evening they saw what Ford described as "an utterly superb owl."

Maybe it is another of the Firestone family businesses. The California based Firestones that have a brewery. I would love to see an 805 liveried Firestone-Walker car.
    I can dream.

In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Mario's 500 win, all competitors will have to run the entire race with one right rear tire.

Maybe Firestone will announce they'll make tires that won't fall apart at certain tracks, such as Texas.
