Nothing like watching primer painted cars making laps that mean nothing!

Hey, I'll take it over darn near anything Speed has put on since the last CTS event.

has this been approved by the lard azz that owns Unque Whips?

Gawd just when you thought speed couldnt sink any lower than Pinks, they put that crappy show on 23 hours a day

and am I the only one here who wants to leave a flaming bag of doo doo on his porch and ring the bell?

NOPI bugs the crap outta me as well but at least they show hot 20-somethings from time to time

I only tune to Speed channel when the F1 season starts and for the Nascar Truck Series races.

The rest of it is just unwatchable to me.

How are the other series staying in the public eye during the off season...the better question is, how will they stay in the public eye during the season...

Well it's simple enough, if ya don't like it then don't watch. I'll take it over NOPI, Pinks All Out and the rest of that made for tv garbage. It's not like there's a whole bunch of other racing that SPEED should be covering at that time but isn't.

    Nicely said.

Carl made the mistake of assuming that there were racefans patrolling this forum...

Carl posted a topic in the Biz forum - if you can't handle a dissenting opinion, you should stay out of it. If you'd like to provide feedback on the management of the forum, feel free use the Feedback Forum. If you don't like the community, move away.

Meanwhile, carl has always done a better job of expressing himself and defending his arguments than you have. He could have posted this on the NASCAR forum if he wanted high fives.

    Hope this helps

Im thinking the mistake being made here is that the series already has a problem with ratings starting to sag.

Supply/demand sez theres too much product out there.

So will airing a gajillion hours of grey COTs cutting laps help or hurt the supply/demand problem?

I dont beleive having race cars available on TV 12 months a year is a good thing.

    JMHO of course

Point is ... I love chocolate ice cream. However, if force fed enough of it ... I'll eventually puke! I believe this explains a great deal of the drop in NASCAR popularity and ratings over the last few years. Well that, the chase and those COT abortions!

    good points Kev
I don't particularly watch much else other than the races but it seems the major sports organizations want a steady stream of interest in the off season and between events during the season
will be interesting to see what the market will bear

If televising test sessions were a good thing, Bernie and F-1 would have done it years ago.

    You make a good point.

And at least it will provide fans a chance to watch cars on a track.

I just believe not giving the people what they want for a few months would help in the long run.

This may be apples/oranges, but when I was younger and living in NJ, the racing season ended around Labor Day at most tracks.

Yeah many tracks had a big end of season wknd & you could go see the mods @ Wall on thanksgiving, but that was pretty much it until the first clear Friday in April. That meant no racing at all for 4+ months

And all the tracks were healthy. More or less.

Now, Williams Grove opens the week after Daytona. And theres a race somewhere in NY/NJ/PA every wknd after that until December.
Then you got indoor races at Atlantic City in January and a month later Williams Grove is up and running again to start the whole she-bang over.

And most of the tracks are hurting. 5,6,7 classes racing every week in front of empty stands. Glorified go-kart tracks. Maybe if the season was cut in half, the tracks wouldnt be in such trouble.

Fans have no sense of urgency to get to the race track whenever they unlock the gates. Theres always a race next wknd somewhere a few hours away. when I only had 18-20 wknds to see races I made darn sure I was at the track.

Same with TV racing. Used to be nothing after Atlanta then several cold months of ANTICIPATION.

got the excitement level up. Today its

"where are they at this week? oh looks just like last week"
