I've always held to the belief that the IRL would outlast Champ Car simply because people favored it's intent and goals.

Now that the merger has occurred we will truly see some serious full-field competition and the removal of all doubt of which drivers are truly the cream of the crop of OW.

There is no reason that OW can't be returned to it's formal glory.

I would hope that going forward here at TF I won't have to wade thru as many posts bickering about the merger as there were about the split.
