It Has to Be the IndyCar Series

Some interesting remarks from Graham Rahal on the CC farewell event. In particular:

    • Asked about a continuing rivalry between the series and its fans, Rahal said, “It needs to stop because we are all here, we are all working together."
No man can cause more grief than that one clinging blindly to the vices of his ancestors. - William Faulker

He has that right. But, I prefer "Indy Car." Two words.

One series, one word. Ah, it doesn't really matter to me as long as the racing is good.

I think most everybody is on board with unity thing. Except maybe for a couple dozen children on that "other forum" that apparently can only find the "F" button on their keyboard (very clever and original). They remind me of somebody that still roots for the ABA Kentucky Colonels, and likely call the NBA the FNBA.

No, I think there are a few here also. The difference is that they just gripe without the four letter words...

...I prefer IndyCar or Indycar. When you speak it or refer to it, it's one word not two. And to go a little more against the grain, I like the current logo as is.
My first Indy 500 was 1973, haven't missed one since 1981. To date I have attended 35 Indy 500's, and probably 100 or so other IndyCar races (CART & IRL).

So do the AMA, NBA, MLB, WNBA, Australian Baseball League, etc.

I know for the good of the sport, it's better to have just one series, but after watching the last two irl races versus just the pix from this weekends long beach GP, there is no question that the hardware and the feel I get from seeing these cars is by far superior.

the irl car generates little to no intrinsic sexiness for me.

Sexiness is in the eye of the beholder. Your veiws may be in the minority here on TF.

Must we still continue to perpetuate the "my racing series is better than yours" stuff? We have one series now. Enjoy it or move on to someting else.

I would suggest you try actually going to an IndyCar race and not just comment on what you saw on TV or in a photo.
