For many race fans, the week leading up to The 500 is like the week leading up to Christmas.

Not only is there an absence of posts on this "Farewell" forum, but folks in general seem to be getting along remarkably well all over TF. (At least on the racing boards...)
So many thanks to those who are showing some restraint during this special time of the year, even if it is only temporary.

point is.......i for one am probably the most "upset" wizzed off can't understand it who gives a............about the IRL.
but when it comes to INDY.......well, she's never broke my heart and kicked me out in the cold.......she's always there for me and embraces me and loves me.......she's always "good".
so, a moratoriam on bashing the IRL is in order for this month...

Or maybe there never has been much wrong with the Indy 500. Its May in Indy. Its no use arguing with folks like yourself, at this time of year. But, then again, I only like to spend other people's money.
There are plenty of other problems with the sport itself, which we have 11 other months of the year to talk about. And, about June 1, we probably will.

Being the well-mannered, polite guy that I am, I'm refraining from making my pitch for a 500 mile open comp late model race at IMS on Memorial Day during the week before the 500. Wouldn't be cool dontcha know, to rile everybody up with radical ideas and stuff during this special time.
Definition of support series: A series that needs the support of the headliner class to draw a crowd.
This one needs to be flagged for future reference.
Guys, maybe it's me, but does it seem strange that anyone would have a complaint about what goes on in a forum you have to make a special effort to get to? It's not like there's any false advertising going on or inticements. It is what it is. Just seems like if a person doesn't like those sorts of discussions they'd just not go to the trouble of checking it out. I'm continually amazed at how serious people on the fan side take this stuff. It's only the web and a sport. What ought to matter is real people you live and work with who you have a context beyond the keyboard or a day or two at the track. Those are the folks who ought to count in terms of investing weight to their opinions. I mean if the thought that somebody somewhere in some special corner that you gotta try to get to disagreeing with you is going to ruin your experience, I think that's really troubling. Just my $0.02.

I have no problem at all with people giving their $0.02 or whatever. The more opinions the better imo. Sometimes you get your mind changed, but mostly it's kind of fun interacting with a lot of the posters here on all sides. I don't take it that seriously and hope nobody else does either. It's only the internet. So somebody disagrees with me or you? Big deal. Folks ought to be able to live with that as long it isn't insults, profanity or threats.
