It was a waste of what had been easily his best weekend since joining the series.
Apparently his radio had died and he thought the race had been called. He should have stayed out for a victory lap, then it wouldn't have mattered.
As dumb as it was I can't help feeling sorry for him - you won't meet many nicer people.
Don't judge him too quickly. I think he will show he belongs in the series.

Nah, your comment is quite fair. The guy is a seasoned racer - heck he was runner-up in A1GP two years in a row - he has every reason to feel embarrassed. There were mitigating circumstances with the loss of radio contact, but he should have waited until he at least saw a red flag.
I was at the race and I (along with everyone around me) was shocked when the video board showed Reid entering pitlane on the final lap.
Some fans claim one series or another runs "real race cars." What's everybody else running, fake race cars? :confused:

I was watching on line and couldn't understand why Reid had a "P" before his name just before the end of the race. If he wins Indy 100 times, he's never going to live this down.

Oh well, he's young and hopefully, will learn. And if you're going to do something boneheaded, better to do it in "the minors" and not when you get up in "the big leagues"
I think the big difference was that Wirdheim was being a complete show-off. Reid was just plain dumb - although if hadn't lost radio communication it would never had happened. It's a pity they aren't racing this weekend.
