Wow didn't see that one coming. Too bad for Vitor, definitely one of the weakest one-car teams.
I have mixed emotions about this, but am very happy that Vitor has a ride for 2009.![]()
Although I'll miss Manning hiring Miera is a great move by Foyt.
Wonder if Manning will end up anywhere or if his stint in AOWR is over with.

Better than sitting at home. Manning did have a second place this year.

I would guess he's done, he's 33 and doesn't seem to bring $$$.Originally Posted by colognecapri
Pretty much no reason to hire him over several others trying to get seats.
He's been talking about going back to Europe and racing prototypes, I'd bet that's where he ends up.Originally Posted by colognecapri

I guess this means Vitor will never get that first win.![]()

Nice pick up for Foyt. However, it'll probably mean the streak continues for young Vitor.
I'd figured this move wouldn't make you happy. IMO, only way he could get a win is on a road/street course.Originally Posted by Jason
Ok, I'll be the first to say it, considering the move to Foyt.
Vitor Meira will NEVER win an Indycar Race.
Manning could have won Watkins Glen this year if he was a little faster on that restart.Originally Posted by Doyouloveit?

Again great for Vitor and sad to see Manning go. Great personality and seemed to infuse some new blood into Foyt Racing. Hopefully Vitor can build on whats been started. Wouldn't be surprised to see Darren in a Foyt car at Indy.
Darren's stats for the year were not great but respectable finishing 14th in the standings after posting a career-best second place finish at Watkins Glen, NY and six other top-10 finishes, including a ninth place finish at Indy.

Manning is a classy guy
"There's no hard feelings," said Manning, of North Yorkshire, England. "We had a good couple of years of improvements. Getting me on board was part of making his team better and I think we did that. I wish him well. We had a good relationship and I expect that to continue no matter what I end up doing."

That would be an incredibly stupid move for a team that needs an experienced driver while they gain their foothold.Originally Posted by Doyouloveit?
Well lets see. They had an experienced driver and didn't finish one race all season. Plus, he will probably be cheaper than Tomas and Vitor and I would probably take Rafa on road/street courses over both Tomas and Vitor.Originally Posted by MichaelP
I'm just passing on what I've heard. Luzco is/was talking to Tomas, vitor, and Rafa.
I know this may be picky, but that is a horrible Photoshop job.Originally Posted by rmouse511

It would really be something to see Meira getting his first win in a Foyt Machine that hasn't won in forever.
