    OT: Vic Mackey

So does Vic die next week or does he ride off to Mexico with a boat load of stolen cash? I'm so numb wondering!

I've heard that the finale is one of the most satisfying to come along in quite some time. FWIW. Since his absolution this week, maybe he rides off on the great money train in the sky?

Mackey was a very unique TV character, probably because a lot rings true. There are lots of "gray" areas out there.

I saw a quick interview with Micheal Chiklis the other day where he commented

" everyone expects him to end up dead or in jail, they are going to be very suprised"

    ^Tuesday cant come soon enough

Like all of you I can't wait either. Given the offbeat nature of the show all of these years, the ending has got to be something that none of us can foresee.

One of the truly great television characters of all time.

I am somewhat disgusted with myself that I always root for him to find a way out of his jams. I don't know what that says about me, but I know what it says about the quality of this program.

As an aside, I noticed yesterday that "our" Vic Mackey doesn't like OT threads on the ICS board, so i laughed when I saw OT-Vic Mackey.

I think Shane & his wife will die in a firestorm. Ronnie is going to get $$$ from Vic and he'll end up in Mexico - No clue what's going to happen to Vic.

This is the ONLY tv show I watch. Can't believe it's ending. Don't know what I'm going to do....

I will be extremely upset if he ends up selling out Ronnie.

Can I just say last weeks scene of him confessing all of his crimes was one of the most powerfull in the series.

Speaking of character driven, "Life" on NBC is also a quality, character driven show. Quirky too, but enjoyable. "Bones" is also a show that benefits from the character interaction.

Really haven't gotten into Sons of Anarchy, but the few times I have watched pieces of it, I found it interesting.

Maybe Dutch takes Mackey out once and for all? Dutch gets Mackey's wife, helps out his ex-partner in charge, etc.

We loved that show, but we had to stop watching. Just a tad too intense for unwinding after a long day at work.

I really like the show but really didn't notice it until the last few years. I recently bought last season on disc because I missed so many episodes last year.

Mental note: stay away from anyone who thinks Vic operates in the "gray" area.

I hate to get off the topic of Vic here, but lol.

Did anyone watch "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" last week? Danica got a mention...Mac (one of the main characters said: "I want to impregnate Danica Patrick while in the Sahara Desert on a dune buggy." Had her pictures from SI stapled to a board, thought it was quite funny.

The weird thing is, I never like Chiklis' earlier work like "The Commish". However, I've been a huge Shield fan since season one. The tremendous season-long "guest stars" acting in this series...Glenn Close, Forest Whitaker and the intriguing regulars. Wow...

When Mackey was confessing his sins, the looks on the two Feds was priceless. Like they were thinking "how much sh!$ can one man be into?". Next week will be one intense 90 minutes. I just want Shane to get his for dropping the grenade in Lem's lap...

I like Sons of Anarchy too. It's amazing between the two shows what FX gets away with. I don't think Tig makes it to season two. The brotherhood and sense of family is such an interesting counterpoint to all the really awful crap SAMCRO is into. Wildly over the top, but the female FBI agent is a hoot, and it was interesting to see Dutch from the Shield in a pretty different role!

I really love The Shield. It's gonna suck that it's going away but at least they are telling us it's over. Unlike other shows I've watched that just end because they were canceled. I don't Vic will die but I wouldn't even guess as to what's gonna happen. I do however think Claudette is so mad she might try something to get Vic personally. You just gotta watch. Remember, the show has to leave with a hook.

As far as Sons of Anarchy, what a work of art. That has got to be one of the best shows I've ever seen. It really pulls me in. I know it's only a TV show, but I felt terrible after last nights episode. I really hope it comes back next season.

I admit that this thread was started in jest as lotuspoweredbyford has noted. With that said, I was in TV nirvana back when I had the Shield and the Sopranos televising new episodes in the same week. Vic Mackey and Tony Soprano are bad guys that have an appealing side that we can relate to. What does this appeal say about us? I'm no psychologist, but I think that to some degree, we all have a dark side that we manage and we are facinated by these characters who have allowed their dark side to take control of their lives. We can escape into their lives from the comfort of our well managed lives.
BTW, I have no problem with OT threads on the ICS forum. I seldom take the time to go to the other forums. If I see an OT thread that catches my interest, I open it up. If I find that it's subject is not worth my time, I skip over it like I do many of the ICS threads.

Yeah, I couldn't help but laugh when I saw that. Do I post in this thread or not, I'm so conflicted.

Obviously I'm a big fan of the show, so it's really going to suck having it end. They easily could've gotten a couple more seasons out of it, but I suppose it's better to cut it a little early than to drag it on too long and have it erode like other shows do. I just can't see Vic not dying in the last episode. My best guess, he does down in the line of duty during the cartel bust, which ends successfully as a result. There would just be so much irony in the city's dirtiest cop being hailed by the public as a fallen hero, it just seems like the right fit. There are plenty of ways I can see each of the characters ending up after next week, except one, Aceveda. I just can't picture how he'll end up.

I've been watching Sons of Anarchy as well, that's turned into a really good show, too. At least FX was kind enough to give me another show to replace the one they're taking away. And it has been picked up for another season, they've already announced it, so that's good.

I love your potential ironic twist, but I'd like to add that Vic dies by friendly fire from Claudette!
Cluadette exoricises the evil that has lurked in the barn, but she becomes a bit of Vic with the shooting, and she immediately resigns due to her medical condition.
Shane and the wife have more bad coming their way at the hands of Ronnie.
Dutch finds that the potential teenage serial killer has struck again in taking out his mother.
Ronnie senses the inevitable when he finds out that Vic is helping with the big bust, (Vic stated that he would only do this if he had the deal), and he drops off the face of the earth.

I can't see Claudette pulling the trigger on Vic, as much as she may want to. She won't let herself drop to that level. I can see her medical conditioning forcing her out though. There's no way Shane survives. This is admittedly a bit of a long shot, but I've been thinking that as crazy as Shane thinks (and since he's now getting coked up it'll only get less rational) he might consider might consider murder/suicide the only way out for the family if they're cornered. That's an awfully dark place to go, but if one show will go there it's this one. Funny you mentioned Dutch and the kid, a friend of mine is pretty much sold on the kid killing Dutch, though I can't see it. For a long time I thought Ronnie would just walk off into the sunset in last episode as the last man standing, but I'm not sure that can happen now that Vic sold him out. Either way, it's going to be one heck of a final episode!

...and it was! I had real trouble going to sleep after the show last night. The only ones I didn't feel got their just resolution were Dani (no real part in the finale) and Aceveda (no way he should have been able to parlkay all his bad crap into becoming the Mayor.

Somewhat expected, but still shocking to see the end of Shane and family.

Strong episode for Dutch and Claudette, poor Ronnie gets screwed over one last time, nice to see Tina grow up and becoome a real cop.

Vic ends up with a 3-year sentence after all... Labeled lunch bags, suit and tie, single-spaced reports in a half-cube...for Mackey that IS prison. Especially with Olivia hanging over his head just itching to revoke his deal.

Really neat to see Clark Johnson in the scene relocating Vic's family to Berkeley. Meldrick, we miss you and Charm City...

I watched the pilot on Comcast online. Great writing, great characters, solid plot, solid story... and too evil for me to continue to watch. (FWIW: The bikers I've known are NOTHING like these people.)

I expected Shane and the wife to go down, but not in the Jim Jones senario.
I thought that Ronnie would run and drop off the grid when he realized that Vic was doing the drug sting for the Feds and since he heard Vic say that he wouldn't do this unless he had a deal in writing for both he and Ronnie. Too bad that Ronnie got the shaft from Vic but that is par for the course in that Vic ended up screwing everyone he touched.
Dutch and the serial killer teen is pretty much what I expected , but a nice twist in that the kid was attempting to frame Dutch and that after "firing" Dutch, Claudette steps up for him.
I agree that Vic is in his own hell in the suit and tie world, but the fact that he stuck the gun in his belt at the end implies that he would carry on being Vic Mackey.
