less than ........55 laps to go - anyone watching?

Watching via HotPass channe Tony Stewart - seemed like when Tony giving information on what he wanted on pitstop - they would cut away to break ending the radio traffic.

Sam slow getting out of car with interior emmiting smoke - looked lkie a fairly hard hit headfirst into inside back wall. Took the ride due to being "helped."

He's alright, just a little mad at the 20 car for racing him too hard though.

That last restart and laps following it with all the action involving JJ, Denny, Kurt Busch more than made up for the lousy 247 laps that came before it.

Edit: Nevermind, Mark wins. Congrats old man on win #4!

Hurray for the old pharts! I really would like to see Mark make the chase.

I thought it was a great race. What made it even greater was Mark Martin winning. I swore at the TV when Johnson took the lead. But, it all turned out alright.

The ending made up for the BOORING part. Denny dive bombs the 48 and the 2 almost take himself out...other than the tire. Jeff and Tony charge up with fresh tires and turn a top 15 into top 5's.

So late lap crashes make up for a dull race?

Sam shouldn't have been back that far to begin with. For the first half of the race he wasn't great but he clearly had a top 15-20 car. Got slightly faster on the first stop and was running 18th, a few spots ahead of Montoya, got faster again after the second stop. So far so good, going the right way on the changes, now running 16th. Then on the third stop, blam, they go hugely the wrong way, and Sam, who's run 32.4 (new tires) to 33.1 (old tires) all race now comes out and is running 33.3 on new tires. UGH! That's when they showed him finally getting lapped and saying how Martin tried to get past Sam in a hurry because Sam was having handling problems.

Sam keeps it in one piece as he sinks from 16th to 24th during that run, finally pit, they evidently change back, and Sam now runs his best of the night at 31.9 which is as fast as the leaders, (who have improved from 32.3 on new tires to 31.9's as the track got cooler and rubbered) then gets punted out.

It was a real shame he had that one terrible stint as he was on the lead lap until then a few spots ahead of Montoya who ended up tenth. But whatever they did on that one stop sent him plummeting until he was racing with the poor handling cars. I wonder if he rubbed someone the wrong way as he was fast right before he was knocked out. Maybe someone took exception to a pass.

Sounds like I missed the racing part of the race...

    Good for Mark Martin though!

anyone think that Kyle Busch has evoked some bad karma post his guitar smash?

Gave up and went to bed early after getting bored and resorting to timing the minutes for ads versus the minutes of race coverage. In the middle of the race, it was uncommon to get more than 5 minutes of race coverage before breaking away for a couple minutes of ads. Then there were the infamous debris cautions with no explanation as to the nature of the debris. I went to the drag racing coverage and then went to bed. Even if the race had been exciting, the TV coverage ruined it.

Not a great race, although there was some great driving and amazing saves - when TNT bothered to cover the action.

He seems to be sharing parts of his cars with his team.

I didn't say the crashes did. I was referring to the front runners actually racing each other for the win. None of those guys wrecked each other...came close, but didn't. Mid pack antics caused the wreck(s), i.e. Menard and Jr.
