The #60 STP turbine was, according to the Ferguson/Nye "Team Lotus" book, Lotus 56 chassis 1 which was retained by Parnelli Jones. That car is currently in the Vel's Parnelli Jones Collection.
I don't share Avon Aero's confidence that the car in their care is the #60 STP turbine.
Some how that's like Parnelli and Jimmy Dilamarter (ex-Vel's crew chief and museum boss) didn't know what cars they were selling. The Leonard #60 turbine that Parnelli owns is reportedly still in running condition; pretty much just like it was at the end of 1968 (at least under the skin). Parnelli drove this car himself just for fun several times after he got out of race car ownership.
Oval.....you are correct. Car is Boyd Robeson's Atlanta Offy, 1977. This was Mel's last attempt at making the race. He was left in the Q line in '74, turned down several rides in '75 for one of Foyt's backups (AJ decided to go with one car), in '76 crashed and never reached speed in a car he and Don built from Joe Leonards '67 Coyote.Mel Kenyon. (maybe his last attempt at Indy?)

Per the 1977 Hungness Yearbook, to say nothing of all of the visual evidence, the Boyd Robson car was powered by a Foyt (Ford). Mel tried the car long with three other drivers and none of them came close to bubble speed.

That's Bill Cheesbourg on the far right. It looks like the photo was taken at the 1961 Victory Banquet.
That would explain A.J.'s big smile.

Dave....thanks for the update on the #88. The OTHER three drivers were: Tom Frantz, Jerrry Karl, and Bob Harkey. As you said, NONE of the four came close to making the race.

Getting back to the 1969 Plymouth, here is a photo that I just came across that is listed as the STP super wedge Plymouth of 1969. This is obviously not a '68 Lotus or hybred '68 Lotus. Is this the Gerhardt and the other cars were just Granatelli Lotus copies, or actual Lotus' and not Gerhardts?
Curious that the front suspension looks very similar (as far as you can see with the body on) to the Lotus turbine...

I read somewhere that the Superwedge was a re-bodied Lotus 56. I think Flatlander 48 pointed out the proof of this. The front suspension on these Lotus 56 and Lotus copies doesn't look like any other car that I can think of.
That is Mike Hiss in the Riley/Offy in 1976 , previously the (1974)English Leather and (1975) Silver Floss--- he did not qualify.
