The Ayn Rand of Indycar
No one had to badge the Offy.
Is that one towards the bottom between Cogen and Fillip. Randy Lanier? He is standing right in front of his garage.

Thanks for the help, guys. Some of these were a little obvious.
Ah... no I am not sure at all. That was the caption from *** where the photo was posted (but uncredited). Could be a mis-caption, but now we have to know.

Mario Andretti won at Salem driving the Gapco Sprinter in the Pat O'Connor Memorial in 1964 and it helped propel him to a full-time Champ Car ride in 1965 - Photo of Mario in Midget taken at Stafford Speedway
Well that is the Scats Anfuso sprint car, not the GAPCO, and he got the Dean Van Lines champ car ride in 1964, mid season starting at the Trenton 150 in July. So yes it is a mis caption of the picture and the story is wrong too!

Love that Canadian Tire car. I really wish that instead of making the cars they did that Carousel had made more 80's cars like that of Sullivan's 85 Indy car...

not a pic from my collection but something I found on the Indy Star site I thought some of you guys would get a kick out of
I think it said the News had this up for a couple of years in the early '60s- I've never seen a shot of this before but I'm sure it appeared in the background of lots of raceday pics during those years- what a seat!!

Grandpa and I are gonna start scanning in his slides tonight, so expect some more these next few weeks.
The second picture in the set is the Marion County Deputy Coroner stationed at the Speedway.
There were 2 coroners, for the county, working 24 hours a day. On race day, one was stationed at the track. That's who he was.
Those pictures were SCANNED by my uncle, but TAKEN by my grandpa.
Here are the slides that we scanned in. Link: http://s700.photobucket.com/albums/w...Indy%20Slides/
You're welcome. We stayed up all night scanning them in. I like the one of the museum with the boat.
thank you so much!
Love the old photos from 71/72 A lot of photos that show what went on in the garages and crewmen that you don't see so much in the Official IMS photos. Also the variety of the cars and their differences is great. Thanks to you and your grandpa for scanning these, can't wait for the rest!!!!
are you sure its early 70's?
KevMcNJ who posted the pic says it's '73
after a little research, the only Super Vee series running in the U.S. at that time were with the SCCA on road courses
the USAC Super Vee Mini-Indy series which ran on both ovals and RCs didn't start up until the '77 season- I think I saw them at Milwaukee that year
