I've only seen a couple of them, but thanks for all the suggestions!
I'll take anything with Abbott & Costello over anything they can put out today. Buck Privates Comes Home has that great scene with Costello driving the midget all over the place. Funny stuff. I laugh as soon as the scene starts.

Bringing Up Baby was made in 1938.
I'd suggest "The More the Merrier" from 1943 - starring Jean Arthur, Joel McCrea, and Charles Coburn. It's a story of the housing shortage in wartime Washington DC, and for a 40's film, is pretty darn sexy. Not to mention really funny...
Johnny Pawl is mentioned in this book I just bought used, a British book, kind of a history of racing. A very interesting piece, especially that Pawl (and the origin of his name) are noted...he had a garage in Schererville just down US30 from Illiana, and we'd pass it on our way to our Grandma's house in Crown Point.Originally Posted by NoviVespa

Where's the "none of the above" option?![]()
I'm old but even the 1940s was a bit before my time.
I mentioned earlier that if someone noted a relevant omission I would include it in the next poll.Originally Posted by Kurt Cobain
Anyone catch that special on TCM? It was a two hour show just about the year 1939. A lot of great movies were made at all the studios in that one year.
