Marcos Ambrose = World's Best Road Course Driver

If I hear the NASCAR inellects say that Marcos Ambrose is A) a "world champion" or B) the "best road course driver in all of racing", I might have to keel over and call it quits.

I'm a huge Marcos Ambrose fan from the V8 Supercar days... when they used to show such things on SPEED. Anyway, I agree with you about the overhyping of his skills, as mad as they may be. I bet you he could hold his own with the best road racers out there. I also think that he his in a different universe from even the best road racers in NASCAR. I guess that is where the world begins and ends.

World's best tin-top/touring car racer? Possibly. You'd have to see how he stacks up against drivers from BTCC/DTM/etc.

Well, I guess if you judge it by the final outcome, Carl Edwards is now the world's best.
The one thing I found mildly humorous about today's broadcast was when one of the commentators made a remark about a guy's blown transmission "going south." After having driven across Ohio and Indiana on a cross country road trip last month and witnessing the rust belt firsthand, I definately would have said the guy's transmission "went north."

I'd like to see a match-race between Marcos Ambrose and Bernd Schneider in equally prepared Mercedes DTM cars at a neutral track.

Agreed. Especially after counting the number of auto assembly plants (mostly foreign) that are popping up throughout the South. BMW in SC, Toyota in KY, Nissan in TN...

Or Subaru in Indiana, or Toyota in Indiana, or Honda in Indiana.

Well, don't ever say that my hometown never did anything to help out your state...we just bought a fire truck from a factory in Appleton. I seriously am heartbroken by the Northern decline and I hope they make it back to the top someday. I drive American cars by choice, but had to but a Toyota last month because my wife told me too.

BTW, you do know the common slang term for Subarus, don't you?

Hey, Edwards also beat Michael Schumacher at the Race of Champions, so why not?

He's picking up his oval game as quickly if not quicker than JPM has.

    DTM cars? Schneider wins handily.

WTCC cars on the other hand...

He's good. Very good! Arguably the best "NASCAR" road racer on earth. But "the" best road racer? Don't make me laugh ...

    Schneider's retired now.

You HAVE already seen Marcos Ambrose vs Juan Montoya a couple times and it can be said Juan's team has been around longer and Juan's been racing in NASCAR longer.

After watching that disaster in Montreal, we can certainly say who are not the best road course drivers in the world.

The quote I heard was "the best in the business" which I took to mean NASCAR.

He's a lousy oval racer too. IMHO, he doesn't belong at the level he's at. He's the Marco Andretti of NASCAR.

That was funny,,, "At it Best",,,, LOL

What I want to see again,,, is Carl turning a half a million
dollars, into trash, in the first turn... Boy he hit hard, thank
God, and Buddha, he didn't get hurt, bad... I felt bad for Carl...

I should of felt bad for the owner, of that million dollar
junk pile, but I didn't.... That will teach him to be
generous... What a beautiful car, destroyed in
    a heart beat...

I will say one thing, that race in Canada last week, was better
than last nights show... For me...
