We have two HD dvr's going to our big screen. Main reason I got the Colts remote, was to make it easier to tell at a glance which remote controlled which dvr. The NFL remotes are backlit too, the regular ones aren't. That's a nice feature when you have all the lights off at night.
To answer your question, we use the Colts remote all year.
