    How long before MLB alters its replay rule?

    >>This video review issue should not be rushed. A couple of clear calls that made national headlines are not the end-all in consideration of the impact of review on the game.<<

    Since the above was written A YEAR AGO LAST JUNE!!, MLB has endured more embarrassingly egregious calls. With the latest blown calls I wonder how long they can go without widening the rule. (Especially since they have a pretty good model of how effective it can be with the NFL.)

    Bud Selig sure doesn’t look like he’s about to change;

    Brandon Inge and the Tigers wish it was this year. He got hit by a pitch that the umpire just simply missed, would have driven in a run as the bases were loaded.

    I don't know. Our coach always said one call never cost anyone a game, and with 4 well paid human umpires are we willing to realize they will never be perfect but that is ok?

    I'm against anything that will make these already tedious games longer.

    There are too many instances in baseball that stop play too soon such as Joe Mauer's hit down the third base line against the Yankees that was immediately called foul when replay showed it a foot inside. The ump made an immediate call and both sides stopped.

    But heck, if you are going to have replays why not electronically custom fit each player with a personal strike zone and let the camera call the balls and strikes.

    I'm all for instant replay, the game should be played and ruled by the way things actually happen.

    I think the managers need a red flag. Every replay is shown on the Jumbotrons and somebody watches in the clubhouse anyway. Post-season games only.

    One thing that would help would be limiting the trips to the mound by the catcher. There was one game in the ALCS where the Yankees catcher (not Posada) was going out to talk almost every other pitch.

    Agreed. I know it's been done for decades, but there are way too many mound visits. One per inning per pitcher by any member of the team should be enough.

    I think you shave 10 minutes minimum right there.
