    Butler - Duke Rematch

    From my local Rag

One beef out of all this that bugs me is the term mid-major.

Schools that at I-AA in football are mid majors like the Missouri Valley or even I-A schools in the MAC like Ball State or Mountain West like Utah.

Butler and the Horizon are not mid-majors, they are not even mid-minors, just minors.

It is pretty damn impressive for a "Minor" to be on the verge of being a National Power if they are not already at that status...
    Natural Born Cynic

What irks me (maybe its too soon for the truth), DW was a 16-oval WIN specialist, yet the vast majority those boohooing for him, hardcarders & fans, alike are the same ones trying to kill anything with more than 9 deg banking & 4 corners, where Dan ultimately made his home...

    2 things.

I won't argue about all that "stuff" but if they go whatever and oh next year, they should make it back, right?

Who does the schedule? Could they/would they (Duke-Butler) put each other on the calendar for old times sake?

Is this possible rematch with Duke to be a one off in an in season "classic" or will Duke be willing to sign a multi year contract with Butler where they exchange home and home games.

In the past I have heard that Purdue and IU prefer not to do the multi year home and home contract with Butler and I am not sure they would be any more willing at this piont. I believe in the past for Butler to get IU or Purdue on the schedule they have had to agree to 2-for-1 deals and I think Butler has started a policy of expected 1 for 1.

Butler on the other hand has been unwilling to give IUPUI a home game and now that IUPUI has had some more competitive teams I doubt that Butler would agree to go to IUPUI's cracker box gym. But IUPUI is starting to use Conseco for some home games and I wonder if IUPUI would agree to use Conseco as its home court for a game with Butler if Butler would then agree to a contract with home games for IUPUI rather than insisting just that IUPUI go to Hinkle?

btw, Butler has a recruit coming in next year who is suppose to be the real deal and will help them as a freshman. If Hayward comes back, Butler will definitely be a better team, but that does not guarantee another Final Four run, that sometimes takes more than being just a better team.
