This is the week we started running at Disney when the IRL was formed. Jan 27,1996 saw Buzz Calkins become the first winner of Disney 200. Spent some good times down in Orlando the next few years doing that event. See if I can come up with something in honor of the Disney races.

Feature Event this week will be a look back at the Diamond Jubilee of the Indy 500. Since we are coming up on the 100th running thought it would be interesting to look back at the 75th Anniversary, just to geared up on what's coming.

Our hot laps will include some barn burning Midget action from the Thunder Days at IRP.

Come on out and join the group at Dawson's on Main Street. Always GREAT food, and good company.

February is BLack History Month so we are going to start out the month with a very interesting history of a black racing series in the mid-west back around the 30's. It's home track was the Indiana State Fairgrounds and they competed thru out the mid-west in BIG CARS as they were called. It is historically very interesting, so come on out and learn something new about our racing heritage.

Later this month we will celebrate the Birthdays of Bobby Unser and Mario Andretti by showing their Indy winning films. Also on hand will showing an interview with Neil Bonnet one of my favourites, to honor his passing seventeen years ago this month. Plus we always will have our hot lap short track segments.

Come on out an join us at Dawson's on Main Street, looking out on Turn One of the Speedway.

February 2 DUE TO WEATHER NO MOVIES TONIGHT

Will move this weeks showing to next week Feb 9

Sorry but I can not even open by back door enough to get out, the ice is so thick. My door is pretty flush with the deck it opens on to
Alot of the Main Street shops are closed, so I doubt sidewalks will be in great shape and it is suppose to dip down to single and below digits tonight.
    See you all next week

Are you back on for tonight?

This week we are going to take a look at the world of early CAN-AM racing. It started in 1966 and closed out the original series in 1974. In its hey day many of the stars of Indy also competed in this series McCluskey, Donahue and Jones to name a few. The first champion was John Surtees, othe champions were Bruce McLaren, Peter Revson, Denny Hulme, Mark Donahue and Jackie Oliver.
Little fact the original series sponsor was Jackson Wax.

We will also have some short track action. So come on out and take a mid-week break, relax enjoy a good time among like minded people.

Never mind the fatigue. How could I not catch a movie about my home town and the company that's been a huge part of it for so many years?

Planning on making the trip tonight, fatigue be damned.

This week' Feature will be one of First Turn Productions creations called Indianapolis Highlights 1925-1980. It has alot of very interesting footage from the 30's and 40's.

Next week (March 23) we plan on showing the cool film on the early history of F1. That has some very interesting early on the car camera footage, that makes you jump out of your seats.

The following week we will not be showing movies Wednesday March 30th as Dawson's and most of the Main Street business's in that block will be closed.
The sidewalks will be torn up for one week in the ongoing reconstruction of the Main Street project, so there will be no access to the building. We will return again April 6th.

    The PIT STOP is great

They are promoting the movies on their electronic marquee

If you made it to the Flag Room or Dawson's, The PIT STOP BBQ is just six minutes away from there (the way I drive ) - I usually take I-74 to the next exit (Ronald Reagan Parkway), then go left at the top of the ramp (south) to SR 136 (Crawfordsville Rd), then right (west) on 136 past one traffic light and then right at the next one (just before the Speedway Gas Station).

Just five more weeks till we here that beautiful sound throughout the neighborhood. So with that said we will probably start looking a little more into the Indy 500 runs, to get ourselves geared up for May. This week we will be looking at the 60's Decade maybe with a few races from the 50's thrown in.

DAWSON's on Main (not sure if all the sidewalks are in place yet, the rain has been holding them up, but the one to Dawson's from 15th is open)

We changed up the menu last week, so this week we will be looking at some Very OLD Indy stuff, have an interesting film with LOTS of the Old drivers in it from Harroun to Shaw to DePalma, it features the 1946 Indy 500 which was the first one back after WWII and was the 30th running. You really get to see and hear the drivers from that era. Then we will jump forward to look at some of the 60's.

Hope to see you there at Dawson's on Main Street Speedway, Indiana.

Back home again in Indiana, so the song goes after a few days in the land of Dorothy and Toto. It sure is windy in Kansas, but at least there was sun for one day.

Dodge City Raceway is a great little facility, the only thing dirt about it, is the Track surface, paved pits, nice concessions. If you get a chance go see it.

MOVIES back on track again. We will be showing some old Indianapolis short shorts this week leading up to the 100th Anniversary. 18 or so days till the track opens for practice.

In case you had not heard one of the events before the track opens will be on May 13 and 14 with a Celebration of the Automobile. Sort of a Concourse d'Elegance type thing, I heard.
Another new thing will be a display of old midgets and sprints the day before the race in the infield along with the Memorabila Show

So if you are in the Speedway area stop on by at DAWSON's on Main Street Wednesday night

    Hot laps 6:30

    Checker 9:00

MAIN Street ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the COMPLETION of Main Street is May 5th at 10:00 am Right on schedule. So far the whole project has been right on schedule, hard to believe.

This week's Feature will be a film about the "Cars that were made in LA" from Epperly to Watson. Lots of 50's footage and some short interviews with some of the greats from that Era.

Still trying to decide what the second feature will be, some come on out to Dawson's and see what I decide to pick.
