What do you like about football? (multiple choices)

Troy Polamalu sez eliminating big hits hurts the game:

“It’s football, you know. If people want to watch soccer they should watch soccer. But honestly, overseas, when people are attracted to this game, they’re going to see the big hits. They’re not going to care about touchdowns and different things, so you’re also taking a part of what attracts people to this game."
"The number of threads by one poster in the OT is getting a little out of hand, IMHO. "
"In the land of freedom we are held hostage by the tyranny of political correctness...If we speak..we say it the wrong way; if we do not speak we are cowards…."

For the most part, the fortunes of your team are not dependant on the wealth of the owner or the size of the market.

It is not god awful slow like baseball.

All the above except abusing fans of the other team.

I'd add special teams play to the "other" category and concur with Mario4ever's addition as well!

I didn't pick any of the individual positions for one very important reason -- IT'S THE ULTIMATE TEAM SPORT!

I love seeing how teams put it all together. How the o-line blocks and the running back waits for the hole to open up. How the linebackers blitz, the FB picks it up, the QB and receivers adjust, and the CBs clamp down. How the kickoff coverage teams close all the seams, and how the punter tries to get the ball to bounce straight up at the five yard line. How the coach makes a crucial decision in a must-win game!
    Cancer sucks.

The title of the thread was 'What do you like about watching football?' If you don't like or watch football then there was no point in replying to the thread in the first place, was there?!

the underline was added by me to emphasize.

Instant replay that is worth something - usually. The ability to challenge a "bad" call and make the correction.

I once commented to my brother in law that the beauty of football is it always seems like if you had just one more of something your team would win every game.

This makes no sense until you answer the following question

How many times this season has your team needed just one more....

    time out

    first down

    sack

    extra point

    field goal

    yard

    tackle

    block

    good call from the ref

    minute

    ...to win the game?

Its a non-sensical game to those who dont really know whats going on

But every play counts to us who really follow

I didnt vote for all of the above

    But i should have
Faster than a bullet from a gun
    He is faster than everyone
Quicker than the blinking of an eye
Like a flash you could miss him going by
No one knows quite how he does it but it's true they say
He's the master of going faster. -George Harrison

There are so many things about the sport to like, I would probably have to check all the boxes. Being the ultimate team sport, everyone is dependent on their teammates every play.

Maybe football's biggest asset is that it is so easy to see most of what is going on on tv. Football field shape is perfect for it.

I love being at the games for the time I spend with my family. My aunt and uncle go with us to the games, and I absolutely love spending time with them.

    Mario4ever already covered the Cheerleaders.

It's odd that Rush Limbaugh didn't make it on TV since he's perfectly shaped for TV too. Maybe he should try again since everybody has since gone to wider screens.

Football eases me into the off season for Indy Car. Fast and sometimes violent with some quite beautiful moments thrown in for good measure.

I enjoy watching my high school alma mater as much, or more, than watching the NFL.
Friday nights are a lot of fun and it costs a whole lot less than going to Colts games.
I've been following my high school team since 1955, btw.
    Have a very blessed day!
