Michigan Speedway removes seats. Sends them to Watkins Glen

They keep sending grandstands to WG, do they fill them there? Honest question as I didn't see the NASCAR WG race, only the IICS race.
My first Indy 500 was 1973, haven't missed one since 1981. To date I have attended 35 Indy 500's, and probably 100 or so other IndyCar races (CART & IRL).

Who's bidding on the naming rights? How far is something like that off though really?!

For NASCAR's Spring Cup race, yes they do. Don't ask me why, because your view is terrible from permanent seats. Also only 12,000 seats being removed from MIS.

I don't recall if naming rights were addresed in the privitization deal for Indiana's toll roads or not...

    12,000 is about 10%, right?

A great Cup track gaining seats & a poor Cup track losing seats... sounds about right to me.

To be fair, the Indiana Toll Road is for the benefit of Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio so they don't have to swim back and forth. Let someone else worry about it.

Michigan President Roger Curtis said. “In turn, this allows us to continue our green and recycling efforts in a positive manner and use the free space we will have where the grandstands stood for something even better.”
It makes you hate the spinning world for the guy to claim he can find better uses for the area than having grandstand seats to sell. Why bother with revenue when we can plant flowers and have a compost bin.

It's just this kind of double talk that I think of when Roger Curtis talks about having an IndyCar race at MIS, he's such a fan but not enough to have a properly promoted and advertised event and to put in the effort to make it happen.

Kev, you do have a way with words when you want to. Did you ever consider replacing Andy Rooney when he kicks?
