    Are you referring to the list? "Team Penske" is up there.
    Some fans claim one series or another runs "real race cars." What's everybody else running, fake race cars? :confused:

    Hey Hairpin, you should take a screenshot or save the list from now early on.... would be interested to compare to what our initial thoughts were compared to your final, updated list

Who might Honda add as other "signature teams." Nunn, Fernendez, and Rahal-Letterman are all gone and the next best team in terms of ability to field quick cars is KVR who will obviously be with Lotus. Who might Honda choose at that point? All the remaining teams other than Newman-Haas are fairly unproven.

    This doesn't even account for Lotus. If Honda and Chevy are agressive in affiliating with teams again there won't be many quality teams to choose from other than Newman Haas, and my guess is Honda swipes them up quickly.

    Lastly, what if the rumors of a 4th engine manufactuer for 2013 are true? Who in the world are they going to affiliate with?

    I guess long story short, is this is why having multiple manufacturers is really positive for the sport if managed correctly. All the teams will likely benefit financially either directly or indirectly. When you do the math it seems there aren't enough current teams to go around, so maybe we will see teams new to the series or some of the part-time teams step up.
    Super Aguri?

    Shouldn't Walker be added to the "Potential Teams" list? I know that they had planned to run 2011 but weren't able to. However, they made it sound like they would push hard to get things together for 2012. It's somewhere in the 2011 Thread

    Curious too - what news on Red Bull? Didn't know they might be interested in IndyCar?

    Heard it from a source. Just one - but a pretty reliable one.

    Walker and BHA will be the test teams. Will they have full time 2012 teams? I mean they didn't pick Penske or TCG because they would obviously have an advantage. Will they? I also wanted to get this thread back on the main page.

    What about Gil de Ferran with his own car in 2012? It's a possibility to me.

    I think this same. No one talks about this, but I think that he'll try to build a brazilian team till there.

    I'm sure all the fans would be so angry to have to see Roger and Chip having to play catch up to Bryan Herta!

    Just sticking this in here for when this thread gets going, but Jay Penske would like to run Scott Speed and Tracy FT in 2012 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...si_motorsports

    Speed is likely to contest just two IndyCar races for Dragon this season but Penske told SI.com that he would like to bring both Speed and Tracy, 42, back in 2012 as full-timers.
    "Quite simply, the best case would be having PT finish his career with us next year driving alongside Scott as teammates for the entire 2012 season," Penske said. "The pair would be unstoppable."

    I want to assume these guys are vaporware until they show up but China Racing supposedly was close to an I500 package this year and has tweeted things like:

    @ChinaRacing
    GM sells more cars and trucks in China than they do in the USA. Does this mean a Chevy IndyCar engine for China Racing in 2012?

    @ChinaRacing
    From a team perspective, we welcome aero kits for 2012. We anticipate a Chinese aerospace or automotive company will build a kit

    Tweet from Brant James earlier today:

    gil de ferran says he wants to field a team next year, but still needs sponsors. an #indycar team costs $6m to run baseline, he said, and he's not paying that tab

    I thought I would bring this page back up to the front with some new Post-Indy questions.
    Will Scott Speed be back? I know some people on here said that Jay wanted to run him and Tracy next year.
    Will Pocono make a come back? After Le Mans this morning NASCAR Speed Center was on and they showed how Pocono has a SAFER Barrier on the inside now, and a catch fence down the back stretch.
    Will Herta be full time next year and will Weldon be their driver?
    Just trying to bring this thread back again.

    Really, do you know what an Indycar budget is then? I'm curious that's all.

    $6m? cheaper than a V8SC?

    A brazilian website talked to Lucas di Grassi. He said that he'd try IndyCar in 2012. But.... he said: "The plan 'A' is racing in F1, the plan 'B' is do what I'm doing now (testing Pirelli tires), and the plan 'C' is IndyCar".
    TBH, IndyCar as the plan C? So Mr di Grassi... keep being a test driver for Pirelli...

    Yanno, let him fall to plan "C". Either he will be unmotivated and out within the year, or a scary hungry p!$$ed off racing driver.

    I'd rather see a thread pulling up the 2011 , 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007 , etc. lists and trying to explain why you got it wrong.

    There's no point in speculating until the off season. It gives people something to do.
