    Yep, sorry for the mistake.

Surprised that at least ED hasn't been picked up yet by an engine group. He has a shot at winning Indy for sure

Who says he hasn't been? Or as Gack complained, Sarah Fisher? They may already have been.

The 4th car at Andretti has a chance to go to a vet per Cavin

As for other Andretti news, Michael Andretti said it’s about “60 to 70 percent” likely that the team will have a fourth car. He said he’s got a couple of things working with veterans. He said a decision will be made in the next couple of weeks.

Put this in the bourdais and legge thread too but there's an interesting quote in Cavin's article about the signings:

"The team owned by Jay Penske, son of Roger Penske, will be a factory team alongside Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, HVM Racing and Bryan Herta Autosport. More teams could be added."

Since Dragon Racing will also be a factory team, wonder if this means that SeaBass will be handling more of the testing load for lotus. Also, how many "factory" teams is lotus going to have? Don't honda and chevy each just have 1? (ganassi and penske, respectively - and weren't they labeled "anchor" teams?)

I remember before unification that this board would have been up in arms over Rice and Schecter not having rides while Legge and Pagenaud do. How things change.

I've been catching up on old Trackside podcasts the last couple days. Kevin Lee mentioned that he had heard a rumor of Renault becoming involved in IndyCar with Lotus. Could this be the new team?

Lotus terminated his contract. I could see if they still had to pay him.

Dragon has Lotus engines, actually is a factory team.

    Viso is confirmed at KV.

Sato is at Rahal with a Honda engine.

    (I may have missed others)
    2011 Summer Break:

    100th Anniversary Indy 500
    24 Hours of Le Mans
    Quaker State 400
    Brickyard 400
    Honda Indy 200 (+ ALMS & others)

And NOTHING will top the 500...

    6 Indy 500s / 5 other IndyCar races / 1 24 Hrs of Le Mans / 3 USGPs / 2 races where the cars had painted-on headlights...

Random observation: could be a very real possibility that all of the female drivers next year have a Lotus behind them. Simona @ HVM, Legge @ Dragon, Beatriz @ D&RR (maybe)...

It's amusing how Honda helped keep the series afloat - they wouldn't be a bad idea to continue with them really either yet nearly everyone has ditched them for new chevy and lotus projects.... If I wanted to win the championship this year with a brand new car and engine regs I would think about staying with the Honda not just for loyality reasons....but continiuty among the new car and engine and even driver? But then again I'm no team owner.
And so we came to Road America where we burned up at the lake, but at the speedway of Nazareth I made no mistake

Honda has chosen its teams, not the other way around. The only "defector" was AA, but Honda had to know that would happen. They retained the best team with 2 of the best all around drivers in the series.

Exactly. I think most teams still think the world of Honda (I do as well), but Honda was not going to supply 20+ engines this year. It's just how it is.

If Dragon is a "factory" team with Lotus...

HOW MANY BLACK AND GOLD CARS WILL BE IN THE FIELD?!?

I could understand 2. But a fleet of 5-8 will be downright silly!
