Kev, I was in some rickety flagstands, too. Actually, there were times I thought that if anybody from OSHA happened to show up we'd all be in full-face helmets and body armor.

Here are a few I took at the Hall of Fame & Museum at Talladega. These were taken with my old point & shoot so the quality isn't the greatest.
The remains of Mikey's Bristol wreak. I don't remember the year anymore.

Ex ARCA, ASA and local bullring crewdog. I remember when racing was really racing and the Talladega Express!!!
1989 was when Mikey took that ride @ Bristol
See that #72 Speedway Modified with Neil Bonnetts name on the door? It was owned by one Pee Wee Griffin
My dad used to sell parts in the ealry 70s to him for his dirt modified.
Dad won an all expense paid trip to Miami in the late 70s courtesy of the US Govt to testify in Pee Wees drug trafficking trial.
They hauled anyone even remotely involved with his racing days down to Fla for the trial
Pee Wee ended up doing time. Hes out now and playing with horses in Florida or something like that last I heard
Yup! Hate to say BUT, there were JUST a few teams funded that way back then. Wasn't it Gary Balough, JR Hanley, Tom Pistone etc in around 1982. I heard JR made it back into Canada before they could catch him. Don't know quite how much truth there is to it but I believe Balough and Pistone served some time or something like that. Of course I could be WAY out in left field here to!![]()

I went to the Fall race at Bristol in '90. Must have been the Spring race huh?
I knew it happened before we went there so I was assuming it was one year previous.
good call
Gary Balough did go to prison & was just released within the past couple years. Hes been poking around speedways trying to get back in the game in some form. I know he was at the modified races @ Syracuse last Fall and I think hes been at some NASCAR races
There is a recent Gary Balough interview somewhere on the 'net
I found some of my old albums with another treasure trove of 1980's NASCAR, ARCA, ASA, etc pictures. Now I just need time to get scanning!
Here's a better copy of Terry Labonte at Daytona in 1982.

Speaking of Trickle, although you can't see it, he has the "ever present cigarette" in his hand right out on pit road!(Bristol - Spring 2001)

I stopped by MWR just yesterday to try and find something in the gift shop for my sister in NJ. Nice looking place. I was on the clock so I didnt have much time to poke around but there was some windows where you could look in on the shop floor.
Wasnt much happening as it was their lunch time.
I did see a shop guy eating a sandwich at a desk in the shop. NASCAR history happening right before my eyes
There was a couple show cars in the lobby of course but the coolest thing that caught my eye was one of Mikeys cars on display. It was one he destroyed at Daytona and they crushed it down to a 4X4 cube and put it in a glass box. Pretty wild. I didnt think to squeeze a pic off with my phone
I believe I speak for all of us when I say we look forward to seeing more of your photos. Stuff like that belongs on line for racing fans to see. I put my best photos on the Nostalgia forum in the classic Indycar thread, and I'm glad that I did. It's great to share that sort of thing.
BTW, I love the shot of the RahMoc #75.

Love those '84 Daytona pics. As a point of information, why didn't the cars have their contingency decals?
Some of these were taken the first day or so of practice. The contingency decals start showing up on the cars later in the weekend. At least that's how it worked back then.
