Thats alotta gasoline
Faster than a bullet from a gun
He is faster than everyone
Quicker than the blinking of an eye
Like a flash you could miss him going by
No one knows quite how he does it but it's true they say
He's the master of going faster. -George Harrison
Donnie Allison in the 18 is correct. The 02 is Dick Trickle in 1983.

Ex ARCA, ASA and local bullring crewdog. I remember when racing was really racing and the Talladega Express!!!
Especially if the engine's still running.I've also got some old ASA and ARCA stuff too if anyone is interested.

I'm thinking the lines were zip tied to the cage along the drivers side of the cage and maybe tore loose as he ran backwards along the wall. Oil usually leaves that kind of black smoke and a lot of flame. He may have crushed the dry sump tank when he crushed the back end. They're made of spun aluminum and hold several gallons of oil.
....or, an oil line might have let go and that's what caused him to hit the wall. Seen that happen too.
Some fans claim one series or another runs "real race cars." What's everybody else running, fake race cars?
INDYCAR - NOW IZODIER THAN EVER!

I haven't looked at these pictures in over 20 years.......I believe they are from the '87 Pocono race Richmond won......oddly enough these 4 photos were in line, what a difference a few years made

You can clearly see the left front go off camber as they go through the turn. Great photos![]()
Man some pics of "real" stock cars.
I think Kulwicki almost won his first at Pocono around that time. I forget who won but he was right there and like Kyle @ Dover a few years earlier, the crowd was going out of their minds hoping to see #7 finally win one
I was hitting both June and July races up on the mountain in those days. Good times
Rusty Wallace hero card from 1984
edit: something didnt look right about this image so I pulled the card back out of the album. The Victory Lane shot of Rusty has him in a Kodiak suit. He wasnt sponsored by Kodiak until years later Somewhere along the way I taped the victory lane pic onto the hero card.![]()
Trevor Boys hero card from 1984

God is in the details. Compare the noses of the Hylton car to that of Cale's #28. No disrespect to Hylton, but there's a difference in fit and finish and those differences meant tenths on the track.
What was the story with Trevor Boys and James Hylton? They ran many races under the Hylton-McCaig banner.
