Thread: Sam Hornish Jr. the beginning of the end?

Question Sam Hornish Jr. the beginning of the end?

I did some research on his NASCAR career this guy crashes a lot. This year he will be racing a partial schedule at Nationwide since he lost his Sprint Cup ride.

The question now is at the end of the season is he going to rank ahead of the standings over the other open wheel driver who also will run a partial schedule?

    Who cares?

Sam's been to Cup and he's won 3 championships in Indy Car and a Indy 500.

If he doesn't do another thing in racing, he's already had a hell of a career....and yes accomplished slightly more then that "other" driver from open-wheel dabbling in NASCAR's AAA league.

And no one is taking those championships away from him. He is going to be in the Hall of Fame.

We are talking about the "now". What next?

None of this is exactly breaking news or anything that hasn't been discussed here and on the IndyCar board until our ears bleed. This hits will all the impact of a "Fox News Alert."

Sam seems to be happy with his life and I am happy with mine.

The fact that Sam is happy with his life may or may not be true far as his professional racer aspect? Anytime someone is racing in the top tier of a series it makes them feel important and now since he's lost his sponsors except for a PT ride back down in a lessor series, I suspect he doesnt feel good about it, but not much he can do, as its like a slap in the face! Course many other drivers have lost their rides too, many without that many yrs in racing, and now have to figure out what to do in their life as jobs are tough to come by nowdays. The only good thing for Sam, given his past achievements, and a long time in racing, is hopefully he has financial security whatever happens from here on out?

I thought he was running 12 Nationwide races. They did the sponsor and picture thing with the car scheme. Are they at the end of the season or something? He ran the opener and none since. You'd think he or Penske would make a schedule easy to find for his fans, but I can't find one.

Roger tonight said that Sam is likely to run the full NNS season in 2012.

YUP...Roger made it pretty clear that they want Sam in one of the Cup Cars...and that he is poised for a half dozen runs at the end of this seaon, and then a full year in CUP next year with Alliance on the car. Sounded like they are all anxious to add the car and the driver.

It was N'Wide not Cup. Everything else you said was correct though.
