"Fixed it for you." - Um, please don't do that :)

    Fixed it for you.
Ah, yes, the ol' "fixed it for ya" quote technique.

    Please don't do that here.

As a group, the members of this board have generally come to realize that "fixed it" posts generate more problems overall than the value they provide.

All too often these posts are not as clever as they seem at first, not conducive to good discussions, and can sometimes lead to misgivings and confusion.

They can be especially taunting to others because they often frame the exact opposite of what someone believes in the quotes with their own identity on it.

They are also way too easy to produce, so some members have over-abused the technique to the point of general annoyance, and so the technique has also thereby lost a lot of its "punch".

So, please, let's not do it. Thanks!

But if you are subtle about it...

My first Indy 500 was 1973, haven't missed one since 1981. To date I have attended 35 Indy 500's, and probably 100 or so other IndyCar races (CART & IRL).

DIA: You're being MORE than fair, on this point. Your board has a preview function. It, in my opinion needs to be used. Some of us proof our posts, and some don't. Spell checkers are available for free, and tell you what to fix. Easy, fast, and user friendly. We all take some form of literary license, at one time or another. That is one element that makes our posts more interesting, and brings out the "individual" in our personality, and defines our character. What you are basically trying to do is make each of us better posters. Which makes a better board, which is what we all want. I've been suspended NUMEROUS times for drunken posting, and deserved MOST of them, but I try to keep my posts in order, even when I've been mad, or more importantly...STUPID
My major malfunction is...I want the people I love and respect to live forever...The problem is...Life don't work that way...

You delete opinions...a troll starts ridiclous threads for comments...you delete whatever you disagree with on the Indy forum...

    That's your definition.

Here's ours, the one we've used here at TF for ten years: http://www.trackforum.com/forums/sho...=1#post2543563 A troll is any post made to elicit a predictably and overly negative response or to start (or continue) a tit-for-tat session.

If you come on here and in the middle of a post where people are enjoying a race or something and post "Boy, that stupid IRL sure is a buncha crap", then even if you believe the post to have merit and to be "true" in your eyes, by our definition it's a troll.

Sometimes it's just a matter of time and place. We offer plenty of opportunities for civil, well-supported ideas of every type and opinion to be posted. I am sure of that. I think anyone looking around would be.

Please explain why you let Zap2525 continually break the rules you just mentioned above in a PT thread but have no trouble at all at deleting all of mine in response to him? There is a huge double standard going on. You should ask yourself this question. Do the vast majority of the members want to hear from Paul or Zap2525? Zap is the perfect definition of a troll by your own definition who is allowed to continue to insult Tracy. Whose nephew or brother-in-law does he belong to at Track Forum? Ernest

Ernest: PT has made a career out of being Paul Tracy, Esq. and Pain in the Butt...It's his gig...If you asked him, he'd tell ya' himself...He's got skin about an inch thick...He can handle it...I DON'T LIKE HIM...But I damn sure enjoy him...

Jack, Do you want drivers from the series to interact with the fans on here? Why would any others show up if they see members like Zap are allowed to browbeat Tracy for no good reason? You don't have to like Tracy but if you don't why go to threads about him? Ernest

Well tonight Turn13 dug up this pointless rule. Come on people, give me a break. Are there those around here so thin skinned they get offended by a sarcastic joke of the "fixed it for you" posts? I miss the days men were men and nonsense like the outrage at "fixed it for you" jokes was looked at for the bullpoop it is.

That is truly one of the funniest posts I have ever read here. Your increasingly effective efforts to inject some humor into the spoonful of medicine you must dish out go a long way toward making moderators seem almost human.
