Wreck in one of the early Salem 500s. Jerry Norris spun into the infield on the backstretch and hit Benny Parsons' disabled Ford. Story about this one in "Driven to the Past." Wayne Doebling photo.

Mario on the IRP road course in a Fairlane. Running the "short" course counter-clockwise. This course cut out everything west of the dragstrip. This car had the same paint scheme as the one in which he won the Daytona 500 in 1967, but I don't remember the Paul Harvey Ford ad on it at Daytona.

Roger McCluskey leads Al Unser Sr. on the full road course at IRP. From the background, I'd say this is after the turn 10-11 esses and just before the turn 12 carousel.

Balmer's two rides in 1964, both owned by Pete Viviano, president of Delmonico Foods of Louisville, and sponsored as such. Pete was also president of the Fairgrounds Motor Speedway board of directors. The Ford was used at the Fairgrounds and on half-miles in ARCA racing, winning one at Salem. The Plymouth, with a 426 wedge, was used at Daytona and was leading the first ARCA race there in 1964 by a big margin when the engine let go...

Leonard Blanchard and his Fairlane at the Fairgrounds. We took this car to a USAC Stock Car road race at IRP the day after a Saturday night program and took 5th place with it.
