I apologize if I repeat some of these from back when we started this thread. They say the memory is the second thing to go. I forget what they say is first.

Earl Baltes asked me to come to Dayton and flag a local race once. The car in the photo is owned by Mickey Thompson of Dayton and was driven by Jerry Lantz. Earl decided to end practice, and instead of just signaling me, he stepped out on the track and started waving his arms. Jerry got sideways in one direction, then the other, and must have missed Earl by a quarter of an inch as the promoter went over the inside rail. I was out on the track checking to see if there were any pieces of Earl still stuck to the car. The whole incident is chronicled in "Driven to the Past."

We had a two-wheel driving contest at the Fairgrounds one night, and "Pappy" Griffis brought his everyday ride out for it. He won the thing, and insisted that I take the victory lap with him. I'm glad it had a hood ornament and a radio antenna...

A later Jensen car at Nashville. If I recall correctly, Tim Richmond drove this car, and so did Rich Vogler. Jensen now runs a racing supply store in the Charlotte area...

Two Harry Hyde Pontiacs that were the class of the late model field at the Fairgrounds in 1964 and 1965. Jesse Baird in the 14 and Andy Hampton in 16. A close look around the windshield area reveals that some "reskinning" was done on Hampton's car. As a matter of fact, the 14 photo was taken from the right side because early in the season, the left rear quarter panel was still a 1963.

A Hudson at Oakland Speedway. As I understand it, the bank was about 45 degrees, but only for one lane up against the wall. Got some more photos from this track which may show up later.
