All I'll say is, as long as you guys have pictures, etc. to share, keep 'em coming.

Lots of these pictures revive memories of my dad and me going to these tracks when I was much younger.

Tiny Lund. Charlie Blanton won the ARCA race at Daytona with this car, and Tiny won a race at Salem, and then the ASA Redbud at Anderson with it.

Randy Sweet's record car. He and C.J. Rayburn had a little competition going with these things. I recall when Randy took a shot at the "world" half-mile record at Winchester, he told me he'd raise his hand when he wanted the green next lap around to start the timing. I figured that meant he was going to hit the nitrous button the next time coming out of turn 4. I don't know how big a bottle he had, but I heard a rumor once that Rayburn had a 20-pounder.

A good friend and a pretty good race driver. Al Straub of Louisville and his Mustang. He ran some early NASCAR Grand American races with this car, I believe.

Three Don Wilbur rides. The first two by Steve Struve, obviously WAY back in the day at Kil-Kare and Dayton. The last in the Thompson Camaro at Salem, just back in the day...

This one popped up on the Daytonspeedwaylives.com website as unidentified. I think it's Bobby Watson of Louisville for three reasons. First, the number 8, second, the Redd's Auto Parts sponsorship. Redd Slung was a long-time supporter of Bobby's efforts. Third, it just looks like him. Bobby was always a Ford man up until the time the ride in the Ranier Dodges came along...

Bobby Watson at the Fairgrounds. Bobby's cars were always fast, and a very good and experienced driver who climbed into his "backup" car at the Sportsdrome one night told me it was like sitting in your easy chair at home. He said the car was more perfectly balanced than any he had ever driven. He led until the last lap when Watson passed him.

A series of three Roy Wathen's Gerald Newman owned and prepared V.V. Cooke cars. First, the 1958 Chevrolet which was another iconic car in the Louisville area, plus the 1966 and finally the Camaro. We lost Roy to a rare kidney disease.

Buddy Ward of Louisville at the Fairgrounds. the year before, this was the first 409 in oval competition in the Louisville area. It was obviously reskinned for 1962, because I don't think Chevy had that "sun porch" roof the following year.

That about clears up the stuff I have on file for the stock car thread for now. I'll start on the open wheel stuff, then the NASCAR photos. Thanks for the opportunity to do this, Danny. I hope this thread continues to grow.

This Pat Patrick raced late models mostly in the Cincinnati area back in the 60s---I'm fairly sure.

Oops. Forgot this one. Tony Stewart's first ride in a stock car. He won this E-Mod race at IRP, but his car owner wouldn't go along with the engine claim rule and Rick Tomasik was declared the winner. That's my boy in the flagstand. Jack Gladbach photo.

Pat Patrick ran up into the 80's and maybe later in this area. I think he still has an automotive repair shop in Sharonville, OH just down the road from where Queen City Speedway aka Tri County used to be.

Not to be confused with U.E. "Pat" Patrick the Indycar owner.

Ex ARCA, ASA and local bullring crewdog. I remember when racing was really racing and the Talladega Express!!!

Hey John, Don Thompson didn't have anything to do with this 27 car. He had been a sponsor several years earlier. We just kept the number and the colors. Dick Massie and Jonas Fultz were the car owners and Jessie's Hair Fashions in Jamestown, OH was our primary sponsor.

Easy mistake bacause Thompson always ran yellow and orange #27's. I had a lot of fun working on this car! On a side note we all had those white Thompson racing hats I'm sure you've seen over the years. We took the Thompson name out of the patch and just had 27 Racing Team on them. We also went to Hinchman and had uniforms made. They were yellow with orange pin strips.

This was our 6th win of the 1980 season. I'm 3rd from the right. This picture was taken at Shady Bowl in DeGraff, OH.

We had pants to match but saved those for ASA races.

I had one of those Thompson hats at one time.
