    DirecTV fees creep higher

I've been a DirecTV subscriber for over 10 years. I've always been happy with the quality of the programming and the service I've received on those rare occasions when I've had a problem. However, their rates have increased quite a bit the past few years. Today, when I paid my bill I found that my monthly service is now $100. Granted, $3 and change a day is pretty cheap entertainment, but the century mark got my attention.

At least they have some competition, so they know they can't just increase prices on a whim without giving some sort of product improvement. And the fact that people keep fleeing cable in droves and picking up satellite and U-verse shows that enough people are obviously willing to pay the price.

I'm currently paying $60.49 for Total Choice (not available for new subscribers), $6.00 for a receiver lease, and $7.00 for DVR service. That's $73.49 before tax and Sunday Ticket! It's hard to justify over $1100 a year when everything is added up, but it is our primary means of entertainment when weather is prohibitive.

$0 is good enough for me. All I pay is $8 for netflix, and that can go if it gets too much in the future.

That works if you don't hate movies and or love live sports.

I love their new "rich guy" commercial with the babes and the tea cup giraffe.

That commercial cracks me up every time the giraffe blows the guy a kiss.

I hate to see how my wife reacts to a $100 per month bill - I am afraid the plug gets pulled - Versus or no Versus. Conteact ends in June - then "look out."

We gave up on DirecTV a tear or two back. They were sneaky about it but little by little the channels I enjoyed were getting bumped up into the next tier on their viewing menu

I didnt notice it at all until I realized almost all we had was kids channels and 27 shopping channels plus some weird Korean channel with Chinese subtitles

We have Time Warner now and lots of people love to dump on them but we got our cable and internet thru them and have had no complaints about either one

And we dont lose our picture everytime a storm blows thru nor do we have that stupid dish hanging off our back porch
