    New Indycar Fan Zone

I would like to hear from anyone that saw the new Fan Zone and give me some impresssions on what it was like. I'm trying to make sure that IndyCar brings it up to Edmonton as the past couple of years have been pretty dismal as far as any Nation stuff and I would like to get a much bigger interest from Edmonton race fans.

My fiancee and I were there all weekend. It was pretty lame. Mostly signage but nothing different from what you'd find at any race in the infield. They had a couple simulators and a show car i think. Nothing special.

What was cool was the open paddock area on Friday. Anybody could walk right up to the trailers and rub shoulders with people like Dario or Roger Penske. Every track should open the paddock up to everyone who has an admission ticket.
"Long day ... But it beats watching ." - Paul Tracy, describing his 2011 Indy 500. Amen, Brother...

Milwaukee did that back in 2005. I had a great time and so did everyone else I talked to. So I agree with you.

Yeah, it would be nice to see the group photo's at the fan zone and the photo's from the Q&A session with Rahal and Kimball.

Problem is that is track policy and we aren't even sure at this point if Milwaukee is going to open the infield.

You will have to let me know how it goes (infield etc).

Sadly we are not going. We got screwed out of $200+ with the last promoter.

So sorry to hear that and I will let you know. And, if I can figure out this whole conundrum of new fangled computer options I might even post some photo's.

I am bummed about it to. But its probably best, we can't afford to get burned again.

I look forward to anything you are able to post. If you need a place for photos, try www.photobucket.com. Good site and easy to use.

I don't think any of us can afford to get burned especially when you add airfare, lodging, car rental etc. though, I feel pretty confident that this one is getting more scrutiny.

I agree. It wasn't my call though and I am the one that got the group to go in 2008. So this time I am wisely keeping my mouth shut. If I happen to get 2 pit passes from Indycar Nation, two of us will be there. I won't go by myself.
