Multiple tire manafacturers.
Hey kids! Railroad directed me here as I was sort of in the loop back at indycar nation but mostly read the hilarious comments. I'll stick in touch here but will look at other threads in the indycar section too. I'm the bonehead who started the thread about saying hi to PT from ernest. Anybody going to Milwaukee or Iowa??
Uncle Si for Pace Car Driver - 2013!!
My rule would be to open up the engines also. A minimum of 2.0 litres. Maximum of 2 turbos. The engine must make a minimum of 700 HP+ and there would be no rev limit!!! If a engine goes ka-blam then so be it.
More Ovals and Road Courses. Less Street Races.
It's because (and I hate to say it) where the rubber meets the road. What I'm saying is you can have horsepower, all kinds of spec designs etc. but if you can't acheive grip it's all wasted technology. Just like drag racing. You have to get the power and design to grip the road. Without that as they say you just go up in smoke. You get the right tire along with the new design and engines who do you think will do the best? One tire manafacturer=no competition.
I would like to see multiple engine manufacturers.I would like to see the teams be permitted to modify, improve, tune or detune them. Instead of leasing they would own them and be limited only by an engine budget to how much risk they take with the tuning/detuning.
Hi everybody, good to see THE CAVE back.
Hey Kiwi, you got enuff GREEN STUFF for this weekend?![]()
We need twice as much. There are two races next weekend.
Let's try something different with this race. In indycar garage there are the confidence picks. At track forum there is the top five.
For these two races what is your view on who will be:
- first car to retire from each the two races, and
- how many cars will remain in the lead lap on the last lap of each race.
Would it be proper to wait till after qualifying to make these choices Mr. Kiwi ?
First car to retire - Marco race one and Viso race two
Lead cars on the last lap - race one = 12, race two = 10
Viso race 1 and Jakes race 2
15 cars race 1 and 13 race 2.
2nd race starting grid will be by random draw.![]()
Apparently, this from the indycar.com website
How will the grids be set?
Traditional oval qualifying (combined time of two green flag laps) will be employed for the first race, and the starting positions for the second race will be determined by a blind draw conducted 15 minutes after the checkered flag for Race 1.
Each driver will draw his/her starting position for Race 2 on the frontstretch stage. The draw will be conducted in reverse order of Race 1 finish. If entrants won't compete in Race 2, corresponding number of positions -- starting from 30 backward -- will be removed from draw.
Segment 1- Marco 14 left on lead lap
Segment 2- TK 8 left on lead lap
Not fond of making predictions but if I must, I'm going with something different than the obvious. Do I get an extra share of green stuff for participating?
Tag's qualifying first again - this is getting to be a little consistent. Now to finish a race.
Wow, incident free in the second race and only one incident in the first. Not sure about the random picks, Power got a huge advantage. Dixon was strong finishing 2nd both races and I kind of liked his idea of if they continue with the draw system cars should get passing points. I would imagine the points to be awarded not for the number of cars passed in a race but the improvement in positions from start to finish. However, I would rather see an inverted running order.
If Dario loses the season maybe he can also look back to running out of fuel on pole day as the reason. Or any number of possible reasons that haven't even happened yet this year. This was just the most obvious and most non race-related way to blow it.
Disappointing to me that they decided it that way. Since it counted for championship points, inverting would be the way to do it. In my opinion.
