Looking at a new cell phone

Okay, any suggestions? I currently have the BB Bold.. which works fine... but I can upgrade and am thinking about a DROID. No 4g phone, It would not be a benifit because I am in a rual setting

Thinking about the HTC Incredible 2 which I can get for $ 99.99. I can also go with a BB Bold in an even swap.

Our company plan will not change, I get unlimited data... so I should still be able to use a DRIOD as a modem of the internet..

    Any suggestions...???

The Incredible is a great phone. The biggest variable these days is screen size. The Incredible is 1/10'th of an inch larger than the iPhone, so it's a pretty standard size phone. It's fast and takes great pictures.

Which turns out to be about a 1/4 of an inch larger than any of my pockets. If I can't put you in my pocket then you're not coming home with me.

    Thank God for that!

I think maybe your pants might be a little too tight, though. The iPhone and Incredible are not overly large phones.

No, not overly large... just larger than I wish to deal with.

beej, I switched from the Storm 2 to the Droid X about 6 months ago. While there are a few things that I liked about the BB better, I would not turn back. The ability of the Droid is like stepping into a time machine and going back to the future!! Make the change and you won't regret it!! You might get frustrated for a few days, but it is worth it!!

The Droid is bigger, but you get used to it. Remember, it's not the size of the phone, but the power in the buttons!!!

It's definitely the size of the phone.

I've had a 4.3"er for over a year now (Evo 4G, now Evo 3D). I saw a Samsung the other day that was bigger and was momentarily jealous. Then I watched Avatar in 3D on mine and was okay again.

I had an original Droid and loved it. When it was time for me to upgrade I went into the store thinking I was going to upgrade my Droid to the Droid X2. Then they showed me the Android powered LG Revolution and I forgot all about the Droids...However, I live in the city where 4G is prevalent and I am grandfathered into an unlimited data package. Take a look at the Droid X and the X2, you might really like them.

I have a cell phone that makes and receives phone calls. That's it. I don't text nor have a need to access the internet with my "phone." In my car I don't have a GPS device. If I'm going somewhere new, I can print out directions on mapquest for free. My phone is small and I have plenty of room in my pockets to stuff all the money I'm saving from not paying for the bells and whistles I don't need.

First of all, I have to have a cell phone that has text and email service. It is part of my job to keep employees informed of schedules, report a need for a response or give directions. Secondly, I have ported my home phone number to my cell, so I elminated the cost of a landline. Thirdly, I pay a small fee for unlimited data, using my cell as a modem to connect to the internet...

I found the GPS invaluable in traveling a new area, especially this past weekend when a turn off of a freeway was to the left instead of the standard right.. the prompt to get in the left lane was helpful

I can get the Droid X pretty cheap.. no 4g for me, by the time my area can get 4G, 8G will probably be the norm....

I should add that most of my cell phone bill is paid by my employer, I can swap my BB for a new BB, but any upgrades comes out of pocket.. I am still leaning toward the Incredible 2 and hoping there is another price drop by tomorrow decision time.

Thanks all for your input... still doing due delligence here.

Sorry, can't help here. I am not smart enough to own a smart phone.

Me neither but I'm trying to catch up by drinking smart water.

My son had to kick and push me into getting my first cell phone... but I fought back which explains why the first cell phone I ever owned was a razor. Go ahead and laugh at me... all my son's friends do over that factoid.

I love my iPhone4, but I could probably live with many of the different Droid phones.

4G is the end-all for a long time to come. The technology is capable of well over 100 Mb/s, which is faster than any landline service you can likely get.

BB Bold? Why not the Torch? BB has a bunch of new phones running the new OS coming out right away, depending on your usage would depend on what phone is best..... The email service on i-phones and androids can't match BB yet. I rely on business email coming on my phone, and I usually get it on my BB before it hit's my desktop. My friend with the i4 sometimes waits 1/2 hour or more.

I think that depends on what email client you're using. I use K-9 Mail for Android with both my work Exchange account and my Gmail account. I always get my on my phone before my pc.

A salesperson pushed me hard towards a Motorola for best reception, and for a good quality device that would handle a little more rough treatment. Don't know if any of that is true, but I went with a Motorola Atrix a few months ago, and have really liked it. Took me while to get used to using it, as I had been using basic phone (actually a 15$ go phone), but wouldn't go back.

I just picked up the Motorola Atrix 4G on Sunday and it is amazing. The battery holds a charge for over 24 hrs. even with fairly heavy use. It's more like a notebook or laptop... and the phone quality is the best of anything I've had.

I can't think of anything I would want a smartphone to do that it can't do and do well... and fast.

I got it for $99. at the ATT store... great deal.

I have a Blackberry Torch, it works fine for me. Most of the phones out there today are great so it's just a matter of the perks and features you want.

Current Phone Samsung Epic 4g powered by Android. Going from a BB, the email applications all suck unless you use their Gmail account. Android doesn't support flash memory so finding something as easy a radar in motion will be a thing of the past. Android/Google WILL not play well with others. There are many great apps, but the phone could be so much better if Google didn't subscribe to the Lucasvision school of business. Again coming from BB the phone doesn't auto-off at night and cache memory is an interesting side effect that Android says is not an issue, but everyone who has one likely has multiple versions of app killers or something to clean up the memory. The good news is that the battery is so weak that by 3:00pm the phone will be dead and so you by default get your BB autoreboot once you find a power supply.

Having used 4 different OS types now I would rank Windows at the top and Android at the bottom. With RIM and Palm somewhere in the middle. Think of Android as a TOY and the other three as business phones. With that said Android can be a very fun toy, it just could be so much better...

That is applicable only if you are in 4G area ( ie: metro), we are rural, we aren't geting 4G anytime soon....

OUr company had been using Nextell because of the Push to Talk feature.. then we switched to Verizon and BB Bold has a version of that, very clunky, no one likes it and few use it, so we can make the change now...

Push to talk was the worse idea ever... the NASCAR/Nextel fans down here would use the feature any where and they always had the volume pegged.

Nextel Push to talk, used as intended, which is as a pager was great.. as a way to socially communicate.... not so much

They make apps for that now. Tikl Touch to Talk on Android works every bit as well as Nextel's Push to Talk ever did. Actually, you can do groups with Tikl. I'm not sure if that was the case with Nextel, so maybe it works better.

Totally agree...I have had the Atrix for a few months now and it is awesome. My wife has an Iphone and I wouldnt trade the Atrix for it.
