What Goes On Your Hot Dog?

Did the hot dog thing for Labor Day.

Do you put "normal" things on a dog, or do you throw some weird things on there?

I like mayo and salsa on a hot dog. It's a Mexican thing. First had them like that in TJ, 30 some odd years ago.

Also like a BLT dog on ocassion. Yep BLT on a hot dog.

I'm not from Chicago, but get a Chicago Dog everytime I'm there - yummy. Mustard and onion only otherwise (same with brats).

Generally, just mustard, but I like Chicago-style dogs as well.

Depends on mood at the time. Mostly yellow mustard and onion. Chicago style is alright but a bit sloppy. Relish and ketchup are good too. I think my favorite is just plain if it's a quality (is there such a thing?) dog. I do not like Nathan's. The spices just don't get it for me.

Good thread...might just start an IndyCar forum style of fight or something...O

My last hot dog and probably the only hot dog I've had this year in June from Deli by the Bay in Excelsior, MN. I prefer brats.

Coney sauce, if it is really good (Coney Island, Fort Wayne)... if not, mustard and onions, sometimes I add a little cheddar cheese....

    For me it's ketchup only.

Chili cheese dog for a hotdog, onion relish and spicy mustard on a brat.

Have never eaten saurkraut, and never will, can't stand the smell.

Typically only mustard & shredded cheese. Chili if available, and MAYBE a dash of fresh onion if I'm feeling frisky... same with a Bratwurst.

Yellow mustard, ketchup, cheese, chili, relish, chopped onion/shallots and occasionally cole slaw.

The trick is to not wear any of it while eating it with your hands. Just can't do the knife and fork thing with a hot dog.

Regarding "weird", I have had mango salsa on a hotdog that I thought was really good.

    Mustard and relish, sometimes onion.

Don't care for hot dogs with lots of stuff on them.

Usually a little mustard, a little DILL relish, diced onions...and lately always Cholula. Occasionally I enjoy the krout on it.

Ketchup only...no mustard, relish or onions for me. I don't mind a 'plain' either and will have it that way often too.
My first Indy 500 was 1973, haven't missed one since 1981. To date I have attended 35 Indy 500's, and probably 100 or so other IndyCar races (CART & IRL).

    Mustard and Relish.

Unless its an Oscar Mayer dog, then it's every condiment in the house, in hopes the dog won't fit.

I am with Harry on this one and for me it is onions, minced garlic and mustard.

I start with Nathan's and I cook them in the slow-cooker or croc-pot covered in sauerkraut. I buy only Publix fresh baked original recipe buns and I prefer them naked. Others like to put some kraut on their dogs but I'm happy with just the flavor that has been left by them just being cooked in the stuff. But naked is my preferred choice. I buy Nathan's because of the flavor and quality and I'm not one to want that covered up with bright yellow mustard and relish.

When I've got a wild hair and fresh cole slaw I might have a slaw-dog. But that's just to blend in when needed with all the Crackers down here.

After switching to Hebrew National dogs, I stopped having hot dog heartburn. Even when I still pile on the kitchen sink to mine.
