If Conor would have stayed with Carlin for his second season he would for sure be fighting for a few wins with them - but probably not the championship.
Sounds like excuses to me but believe what you want. When it comes to a spec series like this its all about the set up and how hard the driver pushes the car. If a team cannot improve but instead declines in their overall ranking in points year after year then something is wrong with the team. ART is great because they bring in good drivers and give them great cars and they win. Carlin....not so much.

Conor Daly kind of channeled his dad Derek's high flying act @Monaco

Conor is looking more and more like the guy with the goods to make it to F1. 8th in his first F3 showing is impressive, racing with a team he's never raced with before, a car he's never raced, at a circuit he's never raced and it was also a wet session. Also shows that he has either the backing, the connections, or both to make it to the top. All of that to go along with pace and the racer's spirit. I wasn't very high on him when he first made the move, but he has risen to the challenge big time. Looking forward to big things from him.

I think this is Conor's second season in GP3 so he's not new to the series. Plus he's with Lotus GP who is the top team in GP3 when added onto Conor's experience is a pretty good combination. This year the GP3 season has been extremely competitive and if Conor can keep himself out of trouble it is possible he can finish in the top 5 or even in the top 3. The key for Conor though is keeping up with his teammates and showing that he can compete with them on this level. If he accomplishes that and stays attached to Lotus GP his future in the European ladder is very good.

Even though Alex Rossi has fizzled a little I think he's still the driver to beat when you're talking about American in the European ladder. I think the reason for Alex's subpar season is due to his team rather then Alex's lack of skill or dedication. I hope Alex can comeback but it's going be a uphill battle up a mountain unfortunately.

In the last four races Conor has scored in the top 5 each race including 3 podiums. He is now only one point away from tying his teammate Daniel Abt and even though he's still 28 points away from his other teammate Aaro Vainio if things keep up the way they have been it'll be a tight fight until the end. Great job Conor! Now get some wins to go along with those podiums.

Nice aggressive driving in Hockenheim race 2, went from 7th to 3rd in half a lap.

Maybe a bit too late for a title charge, but he has a great shot for a championship podium.

What did Daly finish in race 1 this weekend and did he beat Abt and Vainio? Will this weekend be televised?

He started 6th and finished 6th after a fairly quiet race.

He got beaten by his 2 team-mates unfortunately. Abt finished 3rd. Vainio had a mega lap in quali and started from pole, but he messed up his start completely, and finished 5th.

BTW, Da Costa won and passed Daly at the championship standings.

This sucks and Conor didn't really have a great weekend while at the same time his teammates both had an excellent weekend in comparison. Just when Conor catches up and seems to have a chance to pull ahead something like this weekend happens.

There's still a lot of racing to do and Conor has proven that it only takes one race weekend to catch up to his rivals. Conor fighting!!!

So Conor Daly is at Mid-Ohio today. Said on IMS radio network that next year should be GP3 or World Series by Renault for him.

It's good to hear Conor is back in the States and hopefully enjoying his time at Mid-Ohio. So far Conor is doing fairly well in GP3 and if he can finish in the top 4 of at least stay close to his teammates a move to Formula Renault well be deserved.

What do you mean "stay close to his teammates"?? He better kick his teammates butts!! Same equipment, no excuses.

Very true and sorry I guess I let some of my bias show through my statement there. I believe that catching Vainio could be a challenge for Conor since Conor is nearly 40 points down from Vainio even though they did score the same amount of wins and podiums. Catching Abt is more like (Conor is 13 points down) but what Conor needs is consistency and high points finishes to make it work. Conor has been climbing a hill since the season began but you're right it's not like it's impossible for Conor to overtake his teammates.

So, Conor finished 6th overall in 2012 GP3. Team-mates Abt and Vainio were 2nd and 4th.

Conor will be testing at Barcelona in World Series by Renault for 2012 teams' champions Tech 1 Racing, today and tomorrow.

Anyone can look at those numbers and say that Conor did the worst but it was actually a very close battle between the three throughout the season. I think Conor did a lot better then many expected and I would say that the 2012 GP3 field was pretty even which made it even tougher to score wins, podiums, or even points.

The Tech 1 seat doesn't seem to be that bad. If he gets that seat he'll be in a good spot to win the title. Alex Rossi, Robert Wickens, and now Daly all seem to be going down the same road but I hope one day one of these guys well find a ride in F1.

Indeed. The fight was close at the top. The top 8 was grouped in only 54.5 points in the end, after 16 races. Keeping in mind that with the GP2/GP3 event format, things can easily go one way or the other, because if you mess up in quali or race 1, your whole week-end is pretty much ruined.
