"Try some of these before or after your statements if you are not presenting them as facts. Things like - "In my opinion", or "I think that", JHMO, IMHO, IMO, JMO... Your opinions are not (necessarily) fact. That would clear things up some." - Seadog 03/25/2010 11:40am So the above is JMO.
Doesn't matter how exciting the races are if no one knows they are happening. Not enough (effective) marketing by tracks and promoters, or by IICS, or major sponsors, or Comcast/NBC/Versus.
Congratulations to RHR, & all the winning drivers & teams in the fantastic 2012 season. Looking forward to 2013!
We are all together now. Goal 22-24 races per year split 50:50 oval:RC/SC
The first thing that needs to be addressed is the areo dependence of the cars. A trailing car seems to wash out as it approaches the car in front. The cars are too dependent on air over the nose wing and body for speed. This allows the leading car to stay in front no matter if it is truly faster or not. Look at the trains we see at road courses. You can not pass even if you are faster because the "dirty air" won't allow it. Fix that, and the the racing will improve. JMHO
Officer Mitchell, I thought you said you didn't want to have to come back here this evening.
Therre you go answering a question with another question. I did not want to believe what another posters said a few weeks ago, but maybe you really don't know as much as you want everyone to believe. All that you ever do is toss out the obvious items like the cars are slow, the cars are too close to the same speed, there was no one at MKE or NH, ratings are low, blah, blah, blah, but never have anything to really add to a conversation.
At your request, I brought this into your sandbox thinking that you may have something of substance to say, but I was was mistaken. If you decide to actually answer the questions of what needs to be done in your opinion to fix Indycar and what issues has RB not addressed, then let me know and I will come back to discuss with you. I will not sit here and waste even more time trying to have a conversation, but only having questions answered with more questions...
If your contention is 'international drivers that have zero use for ovals', how do you explain Tomas Schekter and Dan Wheldon (just two examples) subbing specifically on ovals? How is having the fields be international with drivers that have zero use for ovals and Indycar's history in general help Indycar?
Me? I think a wickedly fast car for starters will. Not a new car, not different cars, not a pretty car, not a cost effective car, a wickedly fast car!!!! Do you? If not, what then?I do think aero dependency is an issue on ovals. I agree that on ovals, a significant part of the problem is everybody goes the same speed. The solution to holding speeds in check has been limiting horsepower, but not aero (except in the case of limiting top speed by mandating wing angles that add aero braking thru drag). Bump up the horsepower and take away downforce and you bring back braking into the corners (or at least breathing the throttle). Then we can see who can drive deepest into a turn on an oval and still come out the other side.Aero dependency is not an issue. You can't pass a car if you are going the same speed. Right now a blink of an eye is all that separates half the field.

I do not agree at all the marketing of the series has changed one iota since cowboy took the job.
Theres been a lack of anyhting from the front office for years now. Where are the hypey tv ads showing hey here we are..flashy passes, big wrecks, side by side racing pretty girls etc...theres been nothing.
As Ive said before, there wasnt when TG was in charge and now nothing from these guys.
Wheres the excitement build up to the series?
Promotoers put asses in the seats, its up to the league to create the buzz.
New cars with bumpers and quiet engines wont do it.
Quality racing doesnt, altho it helps...and even thats been lacking a lot this season. Out of all the events this year, 3 have been great, a few good and the rest sorta ho hum.
The bumps in tv and attendance have been due to a. the finish of the 500..b. getitng farther away from the split.
The f up in Milwaukee shows the front office doesnt have a handle on and lack of direction to fix the issues here FIRST before globe trotting are very clear.
The vegas seeming flop over this 5 mil sham is getting closer and this fan remembers what the guy in charge said he would do if it falls short.
The clock is ticking....
I think the biggest issue not realized by RB is how bitter, miserable, unhelpful, negative, and angry the leftover fans from the split are. Sometimes I wonder what the new fans think the first time they come to this forum (TF not this specific forum) I hate to use the term Civil war because we are seeing a real war in Afghanistan and Iraq but the lingering resentment and anger has sabotaged the series just as much as the split has it seems. I think he's badly misjudged how fractured the remaining core fan base has become.
