I always wished someone would atleast do a rendering of a Panoz LMP car as an Open wheel car. I thought about cutting up a diecast car to do it.

So, Target Chip Ganassi's NASCAR teams started unveiling 2012 cars a month ago. Why can't we see an INDYCAR? You can't tell me that the NASCAR machines are done (season still in progress) while Dixon and Franchitti's sponsors aren't finalized? Why is there seemingly no PR, Marketing, Branding or Communications within this friggin' series!?

Heck, the mega teams already have 2012 show cars traveling the country and in sponsor lobbies...

Announcements are made at the track to build excitement and anticipation for the upcoming season, sell tickets, sell diecast cars, etc....

Am I right to ask why INDYCAR lags so far behind?

11rowsof3, you're dead on. Aside from Will Power and a shot of Dario in a Honda commercial there isn't a lot of tying the drivers and cars to marketing. Someone had posted a study to RB's Facebook wall a while back that showed the TCGR Nascar and Indycars side by side and surveyed people and one of the conclusions is that the marketing on the Indycar would more likely move someone to buy.

Except for this Mountain Dew announcement, which appears to have been made at a 1970's ice hockey rink.

Most teams don't even know what sponsor they are going to have, what driver they will have or what the schedule is.

How are you going to announce anything?

2012 Go Daddy Mike Conway IndyCar???

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/racingv...n/photostream/

If MC gets the ride I will be a bit surprised, and disappointed, but photo from SEMA suggests it.

Also interesting the display car appears to have the "fin" on rear of the "air box."
Congratulations to RHR, & all the winning drivers & teams in the fantastic 2012 season. Looking forward to 2013!

Whoa... this could be a huge news breaker huh!? So... I saw this coming, but it looks like the primary sponsor on a lot of these 2012 cars will be in the top of the side pod while associates will line down the side. Don't know how I feel about this yet... This is the 1st potentially "real" paint we've seen on a 2012 car.

Apparently AA are going to run all three engines as well.

This car was on display at Vegas btw, I'd say it was used to promote the godaddy challenge.

Ohh... so just a promo car? Not "real".

not really. that's the road course version show car from May. The Oval version (which is now THE version) has completely different real estate for logos.

That's the old road course body work as well. I'm fairly certain Dallara was using those raised side pods for everything.

That's at the Hendrick shop. There are two teams per shop and the display cars are in an area like that, which is supposed to look like a wall and catch-fence

Looks to me like the catch fence is on the wrong side of the poles!!!

The GoDaddy car was the original Road Course prototype, so dont read too much into the sponsor thingy. And I don't think it'll be Conway because it simply does not matter what # that car was because numbers always change. BTW-This was taken during Vegas, so technically this would have been Dan's car anyway.

    2012 IICS Livery Thread!

So far there's not a whole lot confirmed, only a prospective paint scheme from Michael Shank Racing.

If you find anything else, feel free to post it in here!

Once they have sponsors, assume it'll be different.

It will be fun to see how the teams' cars will differ in paint scheme from this year.

That would be a good scheme for a DuraCell battery sponsorship.

Reminds me of the old DuraCell IndyCar,

There is no "I" in team but there is in Chip.

That was my first thought when I saw that car...the Dick Simon Racing Duracell car reborn, with the same damn colors.
