Thread: Semi Official 2012 INDYCAR Paint Schemes & Liveries Thread

By the way, did anybody notice that the Fuzzy's car has changed from black/metallic gold to BRG/yellow? Lotus confirmation?
ECR has not confirmed Lotus or any other engine & the Fuzzy's Green looks lighter than BRG to me.

Green grass? "Golf Green" seems more linked (no pun intended...) to this brand than black & gold

IMO, the "SC" should move to the sponsor blocker... it looks like a ridiculous afterthought up on the "pontoon". I'd also pull the blue onto the rear wing (just the bottom edge...)

Sorry about the confusion involving the Fuzzy's car. I don't drink (my body has a VEEERY low tolerance for alcohol ) so I don't know what Fuzzy's packaging looks like.

Good point about not wanting to be mistaken for a Lotus. Me thinks they could be signing a deal elsewhere as soon as the 12-engine agreement rumored by MP comes into place.

I thought the cap was slightly darker but either way. Thing is let's say they went with Lotus. Is it a match made in heaven because things seem to go together so well? Or a nightmare because people wouldn't know the difference? I would thing it would be a good thing simply because both get to use "thier" colors so kind of a win win.

Black is just as much a Fuzzy's color as the green. They requested black/gold last year on the car.

Their advertising in Bankers Life Fieldhouse is on black, too.

That also just shows the company has a weak corporate Graphics Standards program in place. As one example, Target consistently reinforces their corporate Red & White

They must play up that side pod more. The nose is so narrow, you can't read much and the wings and engine covers are so curved, it has to be at just the right angle to read sponsors. I know you guys hate NASCAR, but look at last year's car. The hood and quarter panels are so flat - the are easy to read...

Says who? Black is a corporate color...show me where they have a weak standards program?

Sorry, I don't see any black on the product packaging (the vodka bottles...)

    http://www.drinkhacker.com/wp-conten...zzys-Vodka.jpg

Miller Genuine Draft race cars were always black/yellow/red & mimicked the beer cans/bottles, & packaging. Crown Royal always used Purple & Yellow unless they were promoting a specific brand of their product like the Cask No. 16 (seen on Penske Racing's Rolex 24 Grand Am cars one year...)

Perhaps "weak" was too strong? However, larger companies have budget to have proper art departments that work with sales or marketing groups. Fuzzy's is tiny compared to the examples above (Miller Brewing & Diageo)

Yeah, once some professional graphic artists got a hold of the car it started looking a lot better.

Reminds me of the Argent/Rice color scheme.

Every Fuzzy's car has been black and gold. The Fuzzy's shield...Black, Gold and Green.

That's pretty consistent branding, my friend.

Please click on the link for the vodka bottle... the "FV" inner shield is the only icon on the bottle. "FUZZY's" is in Green with Gold drop shadow.

I understand the use of the black, I've seen the shield design before, but do they have different types of vodka (incorporating the black)?

Black is a corporate color. This is their logo. I'm not sure why the argument here?
Except I don't see it on the product!!!

I have several bottles I'm aware of how they look.

I'm also quite aware of their brand standards. Black is a corporate color. This is their logo. I'm not sure why the argument here?

Black, green, gold, and white is what seems like their color scheme. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

You're not wrong. I get ARROWZ46's point, but it's pretty evident that black is a part of their corporate branding. They use it in all of their sports marketing. They've also done some special packaging, which uses the black shield, if I remember right.

I mean, I'm looking at emails right from the CEO. I didn't dream up the fact that they use this black shield logo.

I thought the reason the Fuzzy's cars were always black and gold, was becasue of Wake Forest University (wehre Fuzzy attended)......

You're right for the most part - but I think the promo material, sports sponsorship, etc - even look at the apparel on their website, it's lots of black and gold. All new brands go through a bit of an identity crisis before they find out what works. Even some fancy ad agency came up with Miller Genuine Draft and it seems like every 6 months I always got a "new version" of the MGD logo. Ditto for the worst offender in the 90's and early 00's Coors Light. lol. I think they had three logos in three years!

Heck, they changed Rusty's car mid season when they started. You say Black and Gold - but they even screwed the pooch with Black/Gold first before realized it did't show up well on TV.

    From this...

    To this:

    And this:

    To this:

And don't forget this color explosion in the mid 90's!

And FINALLY, they got it right, I loved this car.
