The name on the wing looks dumb.

You can carry over similar styling cues... just adjust them for the new forms. The Penske IZOD look is much different than the Andretti IZOD look & IMO Michael's guys did a better job showcasing the clothing company's brand. Team Penske have one scheme for 3 cars... solid concept as long as that one layout can work for all of the cars.
Not a complete car, but the Godaddy colors so far:

Casual fans can navigate to Indycar.com that features grid guides for every single ICS event
The new Dallara RC rear wing is freakin' HUGE & perfect for a maximized logo that can't be missed on TV or fans watching live @the track. A driver's name doesn't help IZOD sell clothes.
Then it can be argued that casual fans won't really give a damn about mixing up drivers when they watch TV or possibly attend a race live.
The sponsor would be well advised to maximize their corporate logo(s) on the race car so it can promote brands they sell + act as a rolling billboard. Everyone can buy IZOD items, nobody can go shopping for Ryan Briscoe!!!
I started becoming a hardcore NHL fan about four years ago thanks to my brother and roommates yet I never went to NHL.com to study up on people's names. Instead, I watched the games as often as I could (which is sort of what Indycar wants from potential fans, don't you think?) in order to learn the players and how the different strategies occur within the game. I wasn't going to go on some website to get that information, and no, that's not because I'm "lazy". It's because I wanted to get to know the players on my own terms. Let's face it, many people may have heard of Indycar but couldn't name more than 2 or 3 drivers, so why not try to help them to identify some of them. Since we can't post giant numbers on the sides of our cars like they do in Nascar to help identify drivers/teams, we need to try using another strategy. My girlfriend isn't going to be able to look at the giant IZOD logo and know that it's Ryan Briscoe, or the National Guard car and immediately recognize JR Hildebrand.
However you know the rules, can ID players, follow the series onTV & actually spend $$$ on games. I only suggested Indycar.com due to the fact that is one site that offers those helpful grid guides & info to provide general info about the series.
You don't seem like a "casual fan" of the NHL so visiting the league's website is not a need for you.
Most ID the different NFL/NHL/NBA?MLB players by their numbers... some of the names are hard to read on the jerseys. The Red Wings don't have oversized nations' flags overpower their uniforms to assist fans identify the players on the ice. Programs provide a score card/line up page. Websites or newspapers also ID the players... space on race cars is very limited & they should showcase sponsors. A television commercial doesn't promote the agency & names of the production teams that created the ad. The 30 second spot focuses on 1-2 key messages.
Just got this:

We're gonna go extinct, and we're gonna do it drinking scotch and driving muscle cars.
They did a great job with that car. The only, tiny, complaint I would have is I think they could do a bit more with the number.
But that is a nice looking car.
Great looking ABC Supply car! Funny thing, the advertising, or lack thereof, made me wonder what the heck ABC Supply does. They've been on a Foyt car forever, but I never really knew, so I just looked it up. From their website they are "AMERICA'S LARGEST WHOLESALE DISTRIBUTOR OF ROOFING, SIDING AND WINDOWS." It amazes me that they can still afford to sponsor this car being that the building industry has been in the toilet for the last 3 years!
Like that Foyt scheme. Unfortunately I see they are still going with the 360 degree roll hoop cameras.
The black wheels make this car IMHO.
