    IMS in Forza 4

Bought the game yesterday and ran an online race last night at IMS on the Grand Prix course with a buddy. Had a great time.

I don't know if the oval course is in the game.

Apparently the full oval is in the game somewhere as I've seen a couple youtube videos.

2 Muskies. What are the odds?

Game is awesome. Would kill to have IndyCar in the game, but T10 says they cannot represent open wheel cars in their games.

I just got my father-in-law's XBox 360. Guess it's time to pick up Forza. My wife will be thrilled*.

I swapped my PS3 out and put my 360 into our entertainment center. I doubt my fiance will even notice. I'm interested to see what kind of lap times the 908 and R15 can put down at IMS

I just searched YouTube, and there is a video showing a 200MPH lap in the Aston Martin LMP. He looks like a crappy driver though. I wouldn't be surprised with a little tuning and smooth driving that we could see times up around 215.

Did a little testing on GT 5 over breakfast. Right out of the box I was able to run 41.0 to 41.1 consistently with the Audi R10 breathing the throttle at the entrance to 1 and 3. I hit 1 lap absolutely perfect, and ran a flat out 40.7. With a little tinkering I got my lap down to 40.6, but it's a handful. I lost the rear end a few times, which I thought was impossible. The Bentley Speed 8 is a lot easier to drive, but a tick slower at 41.0 every lap. The Peugot 908 is the slowest of the bunch I'm running 41.9 to 42.0 consistently, and it's a little more twitchy than the Bentley.

Once I get these cars unlocked on Forza I'll test them out there too. It would be cool if we could find some people to do some oval racing with the R1 cars Online oval racing on Forza is always NASCAR.

I didn't get a chance to play last night. But a friend of mine took some time to compare various parts of the track with pictures. Overall a really good reproduction.

I generally buy 1 game a year for the ps3 (college football), although the last 3 years, Call of Duty series has crept onto my list. I really just don't have much time for the mindless fun that is the ps3 but recently I had started wondering if there was a decent racing game out there. this might have sealed the deal. Thanks Muskie!

It's not a fantastic racing game (I really like F1 on Xbox360 for that). This is a game that has tons of cars, tuning, painting, trying to shave lap times. The computer racing is so-so. Although I suppose the online racing could be good, I don't have enough experience with it to comment.

The online racing is hit or miss. If you load up a random race with a bunch of teenagers in it, then it's not going to be a good experience. If you know people who have the game, or can meet some people through the game or even on here, then it can be pretty kick ass.

I really haven't been able to play enough to address the offline racing in 4. They have something called dynamic AI in the game now, which makes the AI run at pace that will provide you a constant challenge. In previous games they had different levels of AI, and even the hardest wasn't that tough. I'd usually cruise to a victory if I was within 50 performace points, (which is a 1 to 1000 rating of your cars performance) of the best car in the race.

It's definitely the best car game on the planet, but if you really want a racing game it might not be for you. One other thing to consider is that if you want to go oval racing in Forza, you really need to have a wheel. It's about impossible to hold a steady line through the corner with the regular controller. People have the ability to vote you out of the online rooms, and if you're using a controller you get booted. The good news is you can pick up this http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wirel...8659857&sr=8-1 rather than some elaborate and pricey set up.

Is that wheel attached to something? or do I need Kinnect?

You don't need anything but the wheel. It's got all the hardware built in. I do think they've made the controls a little less twitchy on the ovals, so maybe the wheel isn't the necessity it used to be.

I finally got to dive into this game, and it's basically flawless. Car porn at it's finest. 2 things drive me nuts.

    1. The jittery hands on the in car camera are overdone.

    2. The career mode races are too full of top of the line cars, which renders a lot of the cars useless offline unless you tune them. The previous versions of the game had a nice mix of performance in each race. You couldn't win with a low performace car, but there were usually 3 or 4 cars you could race with. I created a private lobby for myself to race the new M5 and the Holden this morning, and it works pretty well as a work around. You lose the ability to rewind, so if you get plowed into the wall you're SOL.

If anyone is ever looking to race or needs a new Rival, I'm DMB Muskie on XBox live.

    Guys,

I'm mostly a lurker on TF but I race Forza (I use Microsoft wheel and pedal set) and I really enjoy it. I was thrilled to see IMS in the game. I've been grinding in career mode to build up credits and get to level 50 (I'm at 43 right now). I'd love to race other IndyCar enthusiasts. I actually haven't spent a lot of time on the IMS oval but I can tell you that the LMPs are about the closest thing to a mock IndyCar feel. It would be a blast to do some mock Indy racing. I am also a tuner and painter so I have done some basic Indy related paints and it might be fun to doctor up some LMPs with IndyCar liveries and race other like-minded folks once in awhile. They also have some other tracks that IndyCar runs on like Infinion and Motegi.

If you have any questions or just want to add me as a rival or to send me a friend request my gamer tag is INDYCAR Dave.

Have you tried to tune any of them for Indy yet? I'm having trouble keeping them stable and fast. It very well might be a good simulation of how hard it is to drive a car at 220 MPH around IMS, but I'm hoping to dial some of that instability out while still getting the type of turn in I need to be fast.

I have every FORZA game invented (even only after I got my XBOX 360 for Christmas last year) and I cannot wait to race this. I usually only "like" racing the prototype cars but the gameplay of racing your way up the ranks is incredible. I love racing the circuits of Sebring (Full Course) in the Panoz. Its unbelievable. I can only imagine racing these protoype (LeMans) cars at Indianapolis now.

HOPEFULLY I GET THIS GAME FOR MY BIRTHDAY OR CHRISTMAS :::::jumps up and down like a child:::

(full disclosure, I work for Microsoft Studios, which makes Forza, although I don't work on it at all.)

I have to say Forza 4 is awesome, but I rewind anytime I am even close to a wall at Indy -- just freaks me out too much. Is the full oval in there? I haven't seen it yet, but I am only level 20. I thought I read here that it was only the GP track.

I love playing with my son and being like "that's where the Hot Wheels jump was... that's where we played frisbee" in Indy, but also Laguna Seca and Infineon. They did a great job capturing the feel of the tracks.

I never ran the oval using the "World Tour", but it's definitely available under the "Events List".

Love the Forza series, love the new F1 games as well. Which brings up a question... if they can make a game with such intense graphics that it makes "iocat" flinch when he gets near the wall, and they can make one of the most realistic looking F1 games I've ever seen.. why can't we get an Indycar game with advanced physics and graphics? I'm tired of playing the old Indycar Series '05. Plus it's kind of hard to play now since Wheldon was the instructor voiceover for the game...

It wouldn't make any money. IMS should have forced GT5 and Forza 4 to include IndyCar (I know Turn 10 says they cannot properly model an open wheel car, but I think that is BS.), if they wanted to have the Speedway in their games.

In a perfect world they would have done a DLC pack of legendary Indy 500 cars too.

1 of the biggest thing that ekks me about forza is not being able to use logitec wheels, the g25 is butter.

Plus is the lack of open wheel cars, GT has an f1 car and the formula gt

I don't think IMS would have any say in either of the games. In fact I dont think it would have been in there if Nascar was not in the game.

One other reason to get forza is Road America is on it as well

Have you tried Indy 500 Evolution? It came out a couple years ago. Not the best game, but if you can find it now you could probably pick it up real cheap.

I'll probably pick up FM4 after a couple weeks of riding the fail train in battlefield 3.

Also starting an f1 2011 in a few weeks on Thursday nights if anyone is interested (the Tuesday night league is full right now).

Honestly I love Indy 500 Evolution. Might not be the most technical game in the world or the most pretty to look at, but the concept is amazing and putting together a Novi Special or driving an original Lotus at IMS is amazing. Plus it's a great window into some of the history or American open wheel racing for a younger generation of fans(myself included). Just wish they'd develop something along those lines for the modern era of Indycar.
