    Colts Thread

I like the long pass to start the game. Interesting that it's not to Wayne.

Also completed a pass to a tight end not named Dallas Clark.

One glaring problem with painter is his play clock management.

Sure wish Castanzo would get healthy

Well it appears it will be a blowout tonight

The defense looks pathetic, or perhaps Brees and Company are just looking that good. IMO, Painter is doing a decent enough job and has proven that he's good enough to be a NFL caliber backup; however, I agree he needs a bit of work with clock management.

Nice explosive run by Carter...broke a few tackles.

    And he fumbles.... Good grief.

Welcome to the world of Cardinal fans. Instead of projecting playoff match ups, you now get to track your draft position and likely draftee.

Bidwell's Blunders are up to 5th overall pick. This could be the year we finally get that premiere left tackle. Now if we can only get a line coach who can actually coach somebody up. If it takes firing Wisenhunt to get Russ Grimm out the door I'm good with that.

The top left tackles in the draft are: Matt Kalil (USC), Jonathan Martin (Stanford), D.J. Fluker [(Bama)may not declare] & Riley Reiff (Iowa)

Kalil and Martin have top five pick potential.
I wish I knew - Dennis "Cutty" Wise

When its game time, it's pain time! - Terrible Terry Tate

Colts fans over the age of 30 are very familiar with the situation.

Yikes... This was only the second Colts game I've been able to watch this season. I don't have much to say after that one.

I was a Baltimore Colts fan from my earliest memories back (about 1970), even had a cousin that played for them in the early 80's. Naturally I was elated when they moved to Indy but just my luck I had moved to Dallas, so it wasn't until 1986 I finally got to see the 'Indianapolis Colts'. The current Colts roster has far more talent than those teams in the 80's, but man the play last night resembled some of those teams. I remember once tallying-up how many quarterbacks wore a Colts jersey in the 80's & 90's alone and I think the number was over 20.

Caldwell will most likely be gone by seasons end, although I never thought he was a good candidate in the first place. The team is showing weaknesses in all area's. I fear the Colts will go through several coaches in the next few years and team will hover at mediocrity...at best.

That said, I predicted before the season started the Colts would finish 4-12. I'm beginning to think that was being overly optimistic.
My first Indy 500 was 1973, haven't missed one since 1981. To date I have attended 35 Indy 500's, and probably 100 or so other IndyCar races (CART & IRL).

IMO, Caldwell should not have gotten the job in the first place. And regardless of record I think he should be gone immediately following the season's end.

I predicted 2-14, and that is overly optimistic

The signing sounded good on paper. Obviously the Colts (and I) thought he'd do better, but there was no way to foresee an injury.

The Colts will need a third QB (technically fourth, considering Manning is still on the roster).

Granted - I'm a PU grad and fan - and a big fan of PU QB's.

That said... I had hesitations about the KC signing because it's an offense built on timing, and a lightning quick release.

I wasn't sure that KC could get the timing down in short order (or at least better than Painter), or could release the ball as quickly as he needed to in order to avoid hits in the pocket.

Not sure where they go from here though, that's a huge salary hit.

I'm not so sure about that one. A QB that was sitting at home in retirement mode, and then thrust back into playing ball sems like a perfect candiate for something going wrong. Sports are geared for the young. 23 and out of school, your gumby, 35 and up you seem more like stickman. One could probably make a case for something similar will happen with PM, esp, if he sits out for another year. No good deed goes unpunished...esp getting old.

From what I read, it wasn't typical "retirement mode." When he retired, Collins told his agent that there were certain teams that he would entertain offers from. I doubt he was just sitting around by the pool and playing golf.

But he certainly looked old when he was playing.

I think Peyton's smart enough that if he has to sit out another year he'll call it a career, become a network analyst, and spend the rest of his life rich and beloved by a great many people. Or maybe stay with the Colts organization to make sure his successor learns his skills. Either way, no one sane would begrudge him.

Dolphins look they are going to beat Washington. If the Rams could hold off Cleveland and the Cards somehow beat Philly (tied 14-14), the Colts would be difficult to dislodge from the #1 pick in 2012.

Edit: All the games went the Colts way. Great day for the Colts draft position. 2 game lead in the battle for the first pick.

Don't screw it up now Colts.

For a below average team....Carolina players should do like to flap their gums a lot.

After that last TD, I would say the Colts will lose this one as well. Just another ho hum day in Colts football.

That's exactly what I was about to chime in. I guess when a 2-8 team finally finds somebody smaller to push around, they have to make a show of how "great" they are, and actually end up diminishing themselves in the process.

Maybe not, nice answer by the Colts sans the 2 point conversion.

My god, special teams kill the Colts again.
