    Reasons IndyCar Rocks

Look, there are plenty of threads discussing everything wrong with IndyCar, and that's cool. There's plenty of work to do. But how about one for all the stuff that's right with it? Why do you think IndyCar rocks? I'll start:

Because Will Power and Dario Franchitti are badass and battle-ready, and those dudes do not like each other. I cannot wait to see them tangling into turn one at St. Pete! Bring it on, baby!

Geez, let's start with accessibility! Twitter or at the track, drivers do a bang-up job interacting with fans, going the extra step, and giving you a sense of who they are.

The drivers are seldom seen wearing a baseball cap.

The tragedy aside, all the events at Las Vegas leading up to Race Day were the most fan-accessible sports-related events I've ever been to. I got countless autographs and got to meet so many drivers who are VERY cool in person. Most of them don't seem to have a huge ego or be "too good" to chill with fans.

Another reason it rocks? The diversity of the drivers' nationalities. Maybe I'm in the minority but I LIKE the fact that it's not just Americans, and that we get drivers from all over the world.

Also, I tried to attach a picture to this post, but it didn't seem to work, bah. It was from Vegas.

It's just a great all-around racing package!.Lot's of diversity for the road and street fans. High banked ovals for those of us who love those, and the flat ovals for the two groups to come together on and enjoy. It's a hi-tech type of racing for those of us who enjoy the technical end, the pit/paddock areas are usually accesible for the fans at some point of the weekend, or special autograph sessions are set up so the fans can get to actually meet drivers.

Also for those of us who grew up on Sprints and Midgets, the open wheel formula is what we love! It may not be PC, but I love seeing these cars run on high-banked ovals and get that same sense of watching midgets running at places like Terre Haute or Eldora or Calistoga. The drivers have to carry their momentum, pick and choose WAYYYY AHEAD where they are going to pass, and the high speeds are EXCITING!

I can't wait for Indy, Texas and LVMS next year!!!

Do we really ever want to see the photos of Buddy Rice in a baseball cap again?

I love IndyCar for so many reasons. The Indy 500, Long Beach, 1 series again, the drivers (Power, Helio, Dario, TK and RHR) the fans (at least the non whiney ones) the great mix of tracks and the excitement.

    What's not to love?
After years of fighting and a split, guess what, we are all IndyCar

October will always be a sad racing month for me. RIP Greg and Dan. You both were great and we miss you.

Some of the bravest people on the planet earth are the Indycar drivers.
Cringing on my couch watching the amazing control drivers have when negotiating on a DF restart.
Watching which driver can late brake brake the furthest into T1 in Long Beach qualifying and then muscle the car around with no assists.
The constant push they make, to make the experience better for fans.
    The Drivers.
Road courses, then street courses, Short ovals, then Giant highspeed ovals. And unlike other series, if you cant do them all, you cant hang.
The heated battle for the championship we see every year.
Deep history that even for youngsters seems to come to life and be relevant.
Watching at fontana my stomach actually turned a little for a second because they are going so fast, I got scared for them. They jump out of the car and say they need more speed.
    Field loaded with talent.
    New turbo-powered monsters.
    Fan accessibility.
    Coolest CEO
    Driver intro stage
    Coolest drivers.
Affordable tickets leaves plenty of beer money.

Because diving into Turn 1 at Indy on a qualifying run is still the coolest/scariest/ballsiest thing I've ever seen.

Almost all of the above (admittedly I don't have strong opinions about the hats, LOL) - plus the premier event of the IndyCar series occurs at the MotherShip of American auto racing, my favorite place on earth!

I would like to include the exit of turn four on said run.

I think Mr. Bean sums up my feelings quite nicely

I have to add this however, whenever I attend a race in person, the start always turns me into a kid again. Nothing like it.

Even though Las Vegas still lingers in my mind, I can't forget all the times I watched the IndyCars on a 1.5 mile oval. That wheel to wheel dicing left me speechless time and time again. IndyCars moving at 200 mph within mere inches of one another lap after lap. I will always love the 1.5 mile tracks and seeing the IndyCars on them. That's why IndyCars rock...for me at least.

What's not to like about fast, bad ass cars?

I am too, in spite of myself.

They're side by side through turn number four! Mike King, who's gonna win it!?

I grew up as an avid adrenaline junkie. I knew a guy that drowned whitewater canoeing and another that cratered on a rock climb when his rope was accidently cut on a fall. Bad things happen to good people. That doesn't mean we give up on living and doing what we love. Life is a risk every single day. "Its better to die while living than to die without ever having lived." Every one of those drivers and team members is doing what they love to do. I'm so grateful to be watching them work.
