Maybe they won't want to if the block is as stiff as a wet noodle. I guess we'll see when it hits the track.

Lotus won't have a weight advantage, at least not that much. Rules specify a minimum engine weight. If Lotus is below that weight, they will have to ballast the engine up to the minimum weight. It could translate to a weight distribution advantage as the ballast could be placed to lower engine center of gravity and thus chassis cg.

The car itself has a min. weight. If the separate pieces do not have a min, then the engineers are free to add the weight where it would be the most helpful.
That is, if the car components do not have a min weight requirement.

Pretty sure that IndyCar specified a minimum weight for the engines, 212lbs maybe.
